Hmm? E-mail from Youtube

I was split testing a couple of squeeze page videos,
and I got this message from youtube.

Dear cspilchen,

Your video Learn How To Get Success Online might be eligible for the YouTube Partnership Program, which allows you to make money from playbacks of your video.

Making money from your video is easy. Here's how it works: First sign into your YouTube account. Then, review and complete the steps outlined here:http://www.youtube.com/ivp?v=4UUQxl15_eU.

If your video is approved, we'll start placing ads next to the video and pay you a share of the revenue as long as you meet the program requirements.

We look forward to adding your video to the YouTube Partnership Program.

Thanks and good luck!

  • Hi Caleb,

They send those e-mails out to anyone that looks like they may have a 'popular' (viral) video. If you were actually sending an e-mail list to view the video (as opposed to it naturally taking off), there probably isn't that much money in it for you. (I.e., like a google adsense website).

To put it in perspective, some guys who were getting literally 10 million + views for 25-50 videos were 'only' getting $200-$300k/year. (Of course $200-$300k is very good, but relative to the number of views you'd need to get, probably not that much).

It means that you've reached X number of views and they will allow ads to appear on it. It's no different than deciding whether or not to use AdSense ads on your sales pages. Hopefully, you wouldn't do that.

Yes, they will offer you to use ads next to your video. Like adsense. I got few email also from youtube, exactly like yours. I just ignored them. I don't see any point having any ads next to my video. If they click to see my video, i want them to click on my link, not some kind of ad.

    Hey,

I wasn't actually going to do it,
I was just seeing why I would
    get contacted by them. Thanks
    everyone for clearing that up!
