There are two ways you can do it. I am assuming you already have a web page built that you want to show up when someone types in your domain, okay?

You can either use Hostgators File Manager to upload your page(s) OR you can download an FTP program. There are lots of free ones to choose from. Just Google "free FTP program" and you get a ton.

Most likely, though, the file manager in your Hostgator cpanel would be best to start off with.

By the way, if you only have one domain name, it wouldn't be an "addon" at Hostgator. It would be your primary domain. This info is helpful because if you decide to use an FTP program to upload your webpages, you'll need to upload them to the "public_html" directory/folder.

    Hope this helps.

Your FTP username, password, server, etc, is all the same as your main domain. Once you log in, you'll see a new folder in your public_html directory with the name of your new domain. THAT is where you upload your pages to.

It IS confusing. I was confused the first time I did it. You just have to get used to uploading things to a different directory, rather than the public_html directory.

Your server would be the same, ftp.maindomain.com. It's hard to explain, but I'll do my best.

With Hostgators addon domains, you do not get a new ftp account. To get to your addon domain, you have to ftp into your maindomain.com account, open up your public_html directory, and there you will find a folder with the name of your addon domain.

That addon domain folder is added automatically, by Hostgator. If you have already purchased the name, and pointed it to Hostgators servers, it should be there automatically.

So, to upload pages to your addon domain, you do not need/have a new ftp account. All of your domains are in a single account.

    maindomain.com
    ----public_html directory
    ---------addondomain directory

To upload your new site to your addon domain, you log in just as you always have, to your maindomain.com. Open your public_html folder and look for the new folder with the name of your new addon domain.

If it's not there, give it a day or so. If it still doesn't show up, contact Hostgator.

I hope this made sense. It IS kinda late. LOL

If you have cpanel at hostgator---go to cpanel then: add on domains
You should have a list there including your new domain. It should also give you username, ftp info.

I rarely if ever work with add on domains--usually just a totally seperate site with the domain name, so others will have to help if more complicated.

Should be just regular ftp login details you are using now. Just different folder to upload to.
