What do you think, if I create some blogs at blogger.com with sales pages for niche products and buy some targeted traffic to these blogs.. Will they convert?

  • i dunno.

i have some blogger blogs i put adsense on...

and then when i watch youtube.. if i see a video i like i click share and add it onto a relavent blogger blog of mine...

i occasionally also go onto google reader.. and if i find something i like i click "send to"...

i added it in settings so i can send it to blogger.. and put it more in my own words and add and substract stuff.

Whether they convert or not isn't normally related to where they're hosted.

The problem with hosting them at Blogger is simply that they can get deleted at a moment's notice. If it's the fact that it's free hosting that makes you interested, why not just use the free hosting at byethost.com instead, and not have to worry about Blogger's terms of service and their idiosyncratic interpretations of them?

    • Quick opinion...

The best use for blogger blogs is to drive traffic to sites you own, or to drive traffic to sites that drive traffic to sites you own.

  • I used to highly recommend them since they could be used to bootstrap a niche marketing site business on a very limited budget.

Today, however, I can't recommend using them for two reasons.

First, many advertisers now won't permit their ads on Blogger.

Second, Blogger's ham-handed and aggressive anti-spam 'bot has a tendency to flag perfectly legit blogs. Minor activities such as cutting and pasting a post, editing an existing post or editing a blog template can set it off and lock the blog.
  • My company does not use Blogger blogs, and a huge reason for that is because they can be deleted at anytime and without notice. When it comes to Blogger blogs, this is definitely an example of remembering not to "put all your eggs in one basket." Best wishes to you.
  • get a domain... there's a $1 godaddy deal right now...
    get proper hosting...

unless you're not serious about this as a business

    • I agree!
Even when Godaddy are not having an offer you can always google to get a coupon code.

I buy and sell sites and I always find a code when buying a domain. I usually save 30 to 50% off the original price!!!

      Just my 2 cents
  • for me blogs just add an extra resource for me to direct traffic to my squeeze pages, and sales pages.

Yes its still worth it to answer your question. Why start looking for a new shiney object out there in in 2011, when you could spend that time doing what I do, it will outlast any shiney object and still be around in 80 years time.

That is : traffic to free offer, get them on your list, give them lots of great free info, get sales, then use your leverage lists to sell more stuff to them down the track... simple.

Then rinse and repeat. Still amazes me that posts like this pop up in the WF,

Build a list and build a community around your product, once i started doing that, and stopped using crappy new shiney tools the gurus kept promoting then my online business skyrocketed and I fired my boss. Which I might add was the best day of my life.

    Hope this helps.
  • Hosting is like anything else. You get what you pay for. You use 'free', you get 'free'.

Seeing as a helluvalotta blogs are designed to 'game' Google, hosting them effectively ON Google is pretty... optimistic.
  • When you start creating a number of blogger blogs that are promotional blogs then there is more of a chance that Google will delete them as soon as they are noticed. I think you should start creating blogs that you own and control, if you would like to keep them. It's not good when you have built up and put time into 30+ blogger blogs and have them deleted. Even when they send you a notice about your blogs, they will most likely delete them after you confirm the blogs. So make sure they are your own.
  • If you want a proper internet marketing business get your own domain and hosting. Treat that as your investment in your online venture and you'll do fine.
