Confused About Hot Trends Technique

I've tried to read up on the topic and written a few posts and asked a few questions here about blogging Googles Hot Trends but I have to confess I'm still somewhat baffled abut the whole technique.

As I understand it the main theory behind Blogging Hot Trends is that you are writing about what people are actually searching for at this point in time. That because it is happing now, sometimes within the past two or three hours, there are not many posts out there using the exact keywords people are searching for and if written properly then your page should make it up the list very rapidly. The idea behind hot trends been to attract large numbers of visitors, what you do with visitors once they come is a matter for the individual webmaster.

Now I've been blogging hot trends this past number of weeks, posting three, sometimes four times a day but to be honest the numbers, never mind the revenue, is just not there. I'm currently looking at my WassUp statistics and it is showing that for the past 24 hours I had 66 visits and 169 pageviews (no spider selected).

So I'm forced to two views, either a. the whole spin about hot trends is just that 'Spin' and as we are in a marketing game that would come as no surprise. Or, alternatively, I'm missing something out.

Key in separately the individual titles of my last five posts into Google and not one of them appear on the first five pages! That suggests that they are not getting indexed and yet WassUp shows quite clearly that the Google bot and Adsense bot are crawling my site

The way I'm reading it is that to play Hot Trends you've got to blog often and fast and often that means that you've little time to write very detailed articles. I'd be the first to admit that the research for my blog entry is based on a quick read of easily found material re-written in my own style/words - I do add my own views so I would not consider it plagiarism. Finally I was finding it difficult to get my blog accepted by Technorati so I dropped a message into their help forum and received the following: 'Hello Kevin: It looks like your blog doesn't qualify for indexing. Please read over our guidelines for more info http://support.technorati.com/guidelines/' Which makes me wonder do the bots really like this type of playing the system?
