I need help... Dont I ?

Hey guys,

I'm new here, so to say the least when I found this forum, I have been looking at basically every page, trying to get ideas for making money. Talk about information overload.

Its not a coincidence that I found it either, I was doing some research for a new business venture.

eBooks...

I know its not new here obviously, which is why I come to you with a great deal of questions. As I know all of you have dealt with this subject for a while it would seem.

The website is here: www.unltdebooks.co.uk

And would appreciate help on the website. Can I make it better? ideas for maybe getting ranked in any search engine. ideas of where I could advertise. and to see if any of these books would be interest to any of you. Would be up for getting a few reviews from you if needed (I can't PM yet)

I know you tend to write huge long list of information about the products, but I thought that maybe a short version would do, as not a lot of people tend to read all you have to say in your posts, when selling your ebooks, and ideas. correct me if I'm wrong please.

I don't really have a lot of experience in all this, but am enjoying the journey in learning all I can, so any help what so ever is most appreciated.

The "best ways" to drive traffic to a website are: article marketing, SEO, forum marketing, social media, paid advertising, etc.

Search rankings always follow link building.

For selling ebooks, I focus on the first three.

I found this also. It just seemed like to much work, and would take to long. Plus I have checked with Alexa, and my links don't seem to be pointing to my website.

I hate to say it, but I can't see anyone ever taking that site seriously enough to buy much from it. Large chunks of it are unreadable, notably the product listings. The visibility of those blue links on the grey is dreadful, and the widget in the bottom left corner that boasts about how you've gathered no traffic stats isn't likely to make you come across as trusted and popular.

There's a lot more wrong with that site but I wasn't tempted to hang around long enough to list it. I don't mean to be cruel and I don't like to leave without finding at least one favourable thing to say, but I don't think it would be doing you any kindness either if I didn't tell you that I think the entire site needs an overhaul. Sorry.

See.. I don't get this.. When I view it from my browser its looks perfect, but when viewed on others its doesn't look right. I have no clue as to how to sort this. Is not supposed to be blue. Thanks for your help by the way.

that is in the html on site. if you use percentage widths that should solve most of the problem.

The blue link colour and the grey background colours are coded into the HTML - you should be seeing much the same as what everybody else is seeing there. Those traffic stat widgets are never going to look good in any browser.

I clicked on one of the product links this time - I couldn't see what the link said without squinting really hard, and most people would just not bother. It turned out to be for a book called 'The Success Mindset' and the listing was full of typos and spelling errors. You need a proof reader/spell checker as well as a new web designer.

      Hmmm..

Get ready for the severe honesty.

Well, it looks like a big black hole.

The other concern is that you say there are tons of books you are offering (unlimited?).

Here is the problem with that - you should focus your traffic a bit. You say unlimited books, but when I hit the link for your inventory I only saw 10 different books? How is this unlimited?

I would chunk those into a specific category and work on getting ranked for that category - IE "Iphone" category with a bunch of different Iphone types of books.

Incomplete categories should say more to come or something.

Your description pages are not all that helpful. I looked at the one for iphone, and you really didn't sell me on the book. How many pages are in this book? what kind of iphone will this work with (old and new?) What are the credentials of the author? Etc etc etc

I dont think that center justification is working in your favor either.

I would give you more - but honestly I just could not look at the site any longer.

Please, for the love of god, get rid of the blue text on black background......

All the suggestions above are great. It might not be a bad idea to take a look at some other sites in the same business as you that you like the layout of and go for something similar.

Ok, I'm going to be brutally honest with you.

I see no compelling reason to buy anything on your site. There's no copy on there that draws people in. The colors are dark and annoying.

Who exactly is your target market for these books?

If you don't know, then you're never going to make this site profitable.

Remember, you're competing with a ton of ebook sites.

Why would anyone want to visit your site and buy from it?

You need to know these answers before going any further.

    I think you've got a long way to go . . .

Can I ask.. The reason why you see no reason to by from this website? Would it be because there isnt lots of spiel about how great the product is? Cause my target market would be the general public. And to be honest if there like me, they wont really want to spend a whole 10 min's reading information that is going to want to them to part with a few bucks. I mean other shopping website don't do this do they

Sales letters arent long just to be long and drawn out, it is long because you need to sell the person on what you are offering them. You cant really get in all the points in just a short paragraph, you need "long copy".

A couple reasons why other shopping sites dont do this are 1) because most people know what they are getting 2) a "long copy" article already presold them and 3) amazon, buy.com etc are already very credible and trustworthy, so the they dont need to instill trust in the buyer on each product. Not that it would hurt though.

Thats not all of course, but just realize that selling someone an information product, from a no-body (no offense meant, we all deal with it) takes a whole lot more than just a description, you need to get them to realize they can trust you, that your product solves their problem, that they are getting the better end of the deal etc

An online sales letter, or description, needs to do a lot more than just describe the product.

I would suggest you take a look at the WSO section, get some help with site design (I just use WP, makes it easier for me) and basic copy understanding.

        Good luck.

        Ashley

    Benjo,

I appreciate your effort so far but you need a better copywriter. Hire one if you can afford it.The sales copy is awful as far as I'm concerned.

Making money with ebook is a good way but promoting it is the most important.I am not going to talking about seo to drive traffic to get more sales. But it will be useful if you write a press release and submit it in different press release sites. You may submit free ads in different online classified sites. And obviously forum is a great place to sell your ebooks or product.

    Hi there,

I have just checked out your site and it does seem that you have fixed the problems mentioned by some of the people above - the white on the darker background looks really good to me.

From my perspective I am not going to be sold on product titles alone, so as a buyer i would appreciate having a short amount of leader text about the book on your product page, and then of course the longer version on the individual sales pages. You mention that you don't like reading long sales pages and you assume the people on your site will be the same as you - unfortunately they are not necessarily going to be. I personally don't like long sales letters but I know they sell; what you could do is trial a couple of long sales letters on some of your products and leave the shorter ones on the others and see over a period of time, which ones sell better.

The other thing I noticed is that on the picture of the Online Freelancers Bible for example there is a tick in a circle with Private lable rights beside it - are you selling private label rights works, or are you offering them? That aspect isn't mentioned in your really really short sales text on that page (too short I am afraid, even for me, lol). When you create a longer sales page have buy now links in several places down the page, then if people get sick of reading, but they are SOLD then they will buy at the next link they come too.

Just a couple of suggestions - hope they help
    Lisa

    Sales have been slow......

    Hi benjo

For one thing benjo, at least you are trying something to promote on the web. You have a website. Some people do not have a website. Start making it more attractive by having more colours. Your website has got to be more attractive for vistors to stay.

Offer free gifts by having a optin form to gather emails to build a list.

Join autoresponder service such as AWEBER and as your list builds up you offer your products to these email addresses.

You also need a mentor and more education to develop your Internet Marketing skills.

Good on you for starting your website.

        Hi Benjo!

I can definitely give you some web design tips!
-the logo is good, but the pictures on the main page are very pixellated; you should either make them smaller or find more high-quality images.
-the grammar is pretty good, but you want it to be perfect if you want people to take your business seriously.
-the white on black theme is nice and readable, but a bit bland; perhaps get a subtle background image and add a menu bar to the left or right side of the page. Basically add a bit more color to attract the eyes, and make it easier to navigate.
-Also, the Products page looks a bit amateur; you have the right idea, but again you need more color and navigability. Also, I would consider waiting until you have more ebooks available before advertising the website; that way, you can group them in different categories to make it look like you have more.

        Good luck on your site!

          Hi,

I just found this, had a look at your site, and found it quite confusing as to what it's all about.

Are you selling iphones or ipads or what?

And/or are you selling us ebooks, or are you providing resell rights ebooks to sell to others?

          As someone mentioned earlier --

Unless you clearly are offering a site that has "everything" like Amazon (and Amazon will be hard to compete with), you'll be better off focusing on a niche, the narrower the better.

Make money ebooks might be what you're aiming at, and if so, make that MUCH clearer.

And make it obvious right up front, when people come to your site and don't even
          scroll down.

You may even want to change your domain name... And definitely, when you're driving traffic to the website, make sure it's traffic that's looking for what you have to offer, or your efforts will be wasted.

Better copywriting will be a really good idea too!

          Good luck!

          Elisabeth

I have a hundred ebooks for sale on the website. Im just trying to get what I have sorted then going to have to take time putting all the others. Will take time. Plus I would rather have to re-write ten ebooks, than re-write 100
