Tracking Recurring Commissions with Paypal

I have a membership site that accepts Paypal as an option for recurring payments.

The problem is that my affiliate management service (in 1ShoppingCart) has no idea when an order is completed or canceled in Paypal.

Does anyone have a slick system for tracking affiliate commissions on recurring orders processed through Paypal? Or is Paypal just a walled garden and there is no way around the hassle?

      The script is Amember and, yes, it does have affiliate tracking. But for reasons pointed out in the other discussion we had about Amember, I'm not yet convinced it is the way to go.

      Still wanting to look at other options that people may be using.

      Anyone else run into this trouble with commissions on recurring payments through Paypal?

        I'm looking at using Post Affiliate Pro to take care of this. It looks like they can track and handle recurring affiliate commissions paid on recurring Paypal subscriptions. Plus they give more features than if I just used the affiliate solution built in to Amember .

          I use the JAM Affiliates software from [www] jrox [dot]com to track the recurring commissions earnt by affiliates.

    Do you mean the other discussion where you said you didn't trust amember for this, but didn't say why?

    Since the membership script initiates the billing, it should be at least as good at tracking affiliate commissions as some third-party add-on would be.

      Yes, Amember does initiate the sale and has done that fine for the most part. However, when it comes to looking up historical sales reports and numbers in Amember I've not always found it to be accurate nor easy to use. I always end up going to the payment processors (Paypal and 1SC) to get the best numbers.

      For this reason, it leads me to think that I won't get the kinds of reporting that I'd like by by using Amember as my affiliate manager.

      I'm a believer in using a solution for what it is best known for. EG, 1ShoppingCart is great for processing transactions, but lousy at email broadcasts. For that I use Aweber.

      Amember is great at the membership management, but they are not primarily an affiliate management solution. I'd rather use something that was designed specifically (and more fully featured) for affiliate management.

      But I believe you when you say that it works well for *you* and what you want. I'm just not convinced of that for what I want.
