Membership Script Recommendations?

I'm having a headache ...

My main source of income is a membership site based on Wishlist Member and I think their latest upgrade has crashed and burned. If they get it fixed, that will be great, but I can't seem to tell if their programmers are making any progress. Their forum has at least a half dozen threads in the past few days from users with similar problems.

I've lost over half of my members since this started, and until now I had a site where 80% (approx) of my members had lifespans of over two and reaching three years.

I'm willing to rebuild my site, but ...

Micro-Membership seems well built and easy to understand, and the developer is quite responsive, but there are several features that it doesn't have that I need. Not many, but some.

aMember confuses me.

The developer of one whose name I shall not mention cannot explain how his operates in a manner that an old fogey like me can understand. Or, from what I hear, young whippersnappers either.

s2Member (free) requires some knowledge of coding to an API in order to fully implement its feature set.

Your Members doesn't have some of the features I need.

DAP is too expensive, so I haven't tested it.

RAP can't.

DLGuard can't.

What other membership scripts are there that offer the flexibility and economy of WishList Member? And that handle drip content easily?

Thanks in advance.
Kirk

DAP costs $160 and is worth every penny. Most of the others cost around $97. Isn't an extra sixty bucks worth getting the best membership software there is? Bargain hunting is great for some things, but I wouldn't skimp when it comes to a platform for a business.

    • I would have recommended amember as well since this seems to be the one most people use, afaik. I don't personally know how DAP compares, but have to agree with Brian Rose that you shouldn't go bargain hunting when you're looking for a solid foundation (and that is, a membership script that works and doesn't break)

I'm with E. Brian Rose on this one. Dap has a lot of great useful and functional features and it is well worth the price for the peace of mind you get.

Also if you are using Wishlist you are most likely using Wordpress as your CMS, so it will be easy to transition your Wishlist script over to DAP which offers a true drip system.

I also use amember. I will need to check it right away and monitor this thread, as I may need to follow suit.

I'll take a second look at DAP. I thought I saw a price around $500, and after having been burned on a script whose name I shall not mention that cost around $2,997, I've become leary of anything over a couple of hundred dollars.

      Thanks

That's a worry about Wishlist. Breaking your software can happen to anyone (Microsoft have been doing it for decades and we still buy it) but this news has put me off WL. Might have to cough up for DAP after all...

    Hi Kirk,
Sorry to hear your having issues.
    Not too good.

What platform are you using to deliver I assume it is a word press site yeah?
If that is the case as E says there is dap and if your losing members it is best to get something you won't need to mess around with or worry about messing up
the other alternative is Membership Site Plugin – Wordpress Membership Plugin – MemberWing I use this in one of my plr sites they have updated it with a lot of good features drip feed etc so you may wish to check it out when it comes to your customers it is best to put out for the safety and reliability of your platform to protect the user and allow for an easy experience for them

    Kirk,

I go with WD on the recommendation for MemberWing. The X version has it's own built in affiliate program, drips content and is very easy to work with. Gleb, the developer, is a member here and great to work with for support.

    Thanks,

    John

      Thanks John,

I'll take a look at MemberWing also. I feel embarassed that I haven't tried it, since Gelb is a member here, and seems to be very responsive to questions from Warriors.

With an add-on, RAP can be used for membership sites.

An alternative that hasn't been mentioned yet is RAP Press
which is a WordPress plugin that links site access with
purchases made via Rapid Action Profits.

        Rapid Action Press (no affil.)

It's been developed by two Warriors too: Bill Ortell and Erin
        Dame.

It can be used to control access to pages and posts as well
drip content within pages and posts.

If you're using RAP, RAP Press accesses your RAP database
and lets people see the content you specify based on their
        RAP purchases.

If you're using RAP and your site is within WordPress, it's a
good membership solution. Plus, it allows you to use RAP to
provide instant commissions for your affiliates too.

Regarding WishList Member, can't you go back to the previous
stable version until the bugs get fixed?

        Dedicated to your success,

        • DAP's support is great and they are constantly working on new features. They have a new release coming out in the next week or so, that has many great new features. Year of free upgrades and support as well as a thirty day money back guaranteee.

If you don't need many then you could always construct it using the free plugin I mentioned in my War Room post. Probably better to pay for something though as you'll get free updates.
Mostly it is being able to group several levels into a sequence and having different drip schedules in each group (which I use Robert Plank's WP Drip for). For other special features I need, I had custom coded plugins built. For things like customizing pdf's with member info at download, uploading multiple prospect list databases for distribution to members, and search and replace of variables for centralized pricing which allows me to manage my product price increases from one central admin page. The rest of my needs are cosmetic, and handled by free or unencrypted premium plugins.

I'd like to also look at your recommendations Chris. What is the thread where you talk about a free plugin? The only worthwhile free one I have found is s2Member. It is pretty close, but does take some thinking, and as old as I am, that's getting to be a problem.
