Is Making Money Online your Main Source of Income?

I have read all of those sales pages where they talk about how they went from poor to rich... and <insert success story here> and all of that stuff.

But COME ON!

Do any of you guys make over $2000 a month? And if so... the Warrior Forum is for you Pro's to share your knowledge with us. And if you have a great product then sharing your wisdom with fellow wanna be Internet Marketers would only increase the amount of Affiliates you have....

I want to make MAKING MONEY ONLINE a FULL TIME THING... but I haven't got there yet.

But I am close... <you can check out my AWESOME SIG and see the skill level that I am at/> And also maybe you could give me some tips... because I know that I am close... but I need someone smart like yourself to help guide me.

Thank you Warrior Forum and good luck to everyone with their Making Money Online Goals!

Making 2K per month online is not hard to do. Lots of people on this forum makes much more than that online.

    With that being said..

I used to think the same thing. I struggled for 3 years with info overload, almost went broke etc. I finally figured it out and am kicking myself for not GETTING it earlier. I guess I'm a sucker for punishment but I'm also glad I sticked through it because I tell ya, to make a full time income online and to be able to support your family without having to really work for it is the greatest feeling ever.

Keep at it and have a real passion for it. I had a mini obsession over it and I think thats what got me through all the downs in this game. Now I'm on the ups and it makes all the downs well worth it.

    Hope that helps,

It's not that hard to make $2k per month consistently online, it just takes focus and dedication to get there. No matter what the sales pages say about how easy it is to get rich overnight, it just isn't true. Behind every shining internet success story is countless hours of toil and sheer effort in getting to that point.

It typically takes some trial and error to figure things out, and nothing I've seen (both in my own personal experiences as well as from talking to countless other successful internet marketers) indicates otherwise. Unfortunately, this is where many people drop the ball. They think they can make everything turn out perfectly the first time they try something in IM, but that just isn't the case, even when you're experienced.

Think about IM as analogous to learning how to ride a bicycle. You don't learn to ride one just through reading about it, right? You actually have to get on the bicycle to learn how to ride it, and chances are you'll fall down a couple of times before you figure out how to balance yourself (there's no other way to learn though). Learning IM is just like that, but it just seems to me that many beginners have a hard time accepting any kind of failure.

IMHO, I think without acceptance of that fact it's going to be very, very hard to become successful at IM. I think of it as a 'failing' process, because the more times you fail at it and figure out what doesn't work, then it should become increasingly obvious what does work!

Yes, making money online is my main source of income.

With that said, it does not all come from just one online activity. I make money online through:

    1. providing help and support to those who wish to set up their own affiliate marketing websites

    2. promoting products and services as an affliate

    3. selling my own products and services

    4. selling advertising space on my sites where I do not specifically promote or sell any product or service.

I think this is the experience of many of us. My income is totally Internet based, but it's not direct income from sales of products. It's from spin-off work, mostly providing services, and that has been very good for me, but its an hours things, not a product thing. Like many here I'd prefer to create products that sell 24/7 rather than do contract projects for others. My goal for the coming year is to get 60% of my income from products, the balance from services. It's just the opposite of what it is now.

        Yep, it sure is.

As an affiliate, I only sell 1 unit per month maximum (2, but that's if I'm extraordinary lucky).

I do get around $5,000 for each sale, though, so it all works out.

If you're starting out, you are likely to experience overwhelm. There will also be enormous temptation to buy every ebook, training course, get rick quick scheme going. Don't. You'll just get distracted and overwhelmed.

      My advise would be this...

1 - Honestly think about your strengths and passions. Eg, do you enjoy writing. If so, then blogging may be a good way for you to go. Are you analytical and technically skilled, perhaps PPC will be right for you.

2 - Think long and hard about what type of business you want to create and the lifestyle you want. As Rich Schefren says, design the business you want with the end in mind.

3 - Your most valuable commodity is time. Build a business that is scaleable and doesn't require you to be constantly working in it to generate revenue.

4 - Mike's comments are gold, particularly about sticking with one proven area.

It's certainly possible. All my income is earned online.

As DaddyG just said, TIME is your most valuable commodity - use it wisely.

Think about what aspects of online business you enjoy and have the skill set to achieve, and try to focus your online activities around that.

Avoid the temptation to jump from one thing to another, and devote all your energies to your main business focus so that you guarantee it will be successful.

Once you are successful, only then consider diverifying into other areas.

Im in the UK and online is my main and only source of income....and yes its over $2k a month.

Thing is making $2k a month is actually the easy part. It may not feel like it at the time as it can take time and a lot of hard work to achieve but I have yet to see anyone not make at least $2k a month if they are hard working and patient. For some it takes a few weeks or months to get to that level, for others it can take years but one thing is for sure - if you want it enough you will get there.

I think its far harder to take $2-$10k a month and turn that in to $20k+ a month than it is to start making $2k a month.

Completely disagree that you need your own product to sell. I know many people (including myself) who are easily making well beyond $2k a month from affiliate marketing with no product of their own.

Its all about picking the right products to promote in the right markets and then building multiple sites to both multiply your income and spread your risk.

Think about it, its not that difficult to build an affiliate site that makes $500 a month if you are willing to put the time and effort in. Then you just replicate that on another site until you have 5-10 sites all earning around $500 or more a month.

Then its just a case of maintaining those sites. If you want to grow beyond this that is when it starts getting more difficult and you need to start outsourcing more and more of your work.

Making $2,000 a month doesn't just boil down to making affiliate sales. In as much is its greatly possible to even make more,a lot of trial and error needs to be involved and just about any niche can make that possible.Even Google adsense can make that sum but loads and loads of traffic.Whatever is the case, making money online has been deemed possible and proven by warriors here. Its basically being determined and persistent.Wishing everybody Luck!

As a product creator, I obviously think creating your own product is the way to go...

But CityTiger is right. Being an affiliate is not a limiting factor. You can make every bit as much money as an affiliate, unless you're in the cult of personality that goes along with major launches.

You can't make yourself famous selling other people's stuff. If you aren't looking for that, affiliate marketing is just as effective in terms of cash flow, and easier to outsource.

But if you're not famous, you're not doing a multimillion dollar launch. You can't hit that stratospheric level with affiliate marketing. You can hit it with product creation, but chances are you won't, no matter how hard you work or how much you try.

So for 90-odd percent of the population, there's no effective difference between the opportunity in affiliate promotion or product creation.

To make any amount of money on a regular, monthly basis is going to require consistency. The first 3 to 6 months of your business adventure will probably be where you work the hardest. If you remain consistent every single week, you should have at least a couple of sales under your belt by the end of 6 months.

Once you make your first sale, rinse and repeat to make your 2nd sale. Then continue and make your 3rd sale and so on. If you are diligent, you WILL be rewarded with livable, sustainable income on a monthly basis. Keep in mind that you will not have to work this hard for the life of the business. You will need to work hard to get it up and going until you reach momentum and then you can move into maintenance mode where you will enjoy the fruits of your labor. Let reaching this point be your goal to keep you motivated into take consistent action.

    Hey There,

2k a month isn't a full time income in many countries,
including Canada. I've made more then that continuously,
and it all comes down to putting in the work. I make
a lot more then 2k. What I did when I was starting is
called building up, maybe make a couple hundred the
next month, aim to double it each month, now I make
more then double that 2k a month, it's all about the
    motivation.

I made like $1,700 today, and I've only been awake for a few hours. Do research, find a hole in the system that needs to be filled. Something that people are desperate for, yet isn't being delivered to those who need it. Create it. Market it. Bank on it. Sorry to be so vague, but this is great advice, if you put it to use.

Edit: By the end of the day, earned near $2,500.

Yes, most of my money comes from my online efforts, and that has been the case since about 2002. Even when I still had a full-time job, I was working online on the side and making more than at my job (which I only kept for as long as I did for the health insurance). Now, I work entirely online, and $2,000 months are not only the norm, they're pretty easy to achieve. I've been pulling in at least that since the beginning, and sometimes I do a lot better. There have been $5,000 and more months at times.

The secret for me is that I do more than one thing online. I'm involved in a lot of different projects that all add up to my full-time online income. Custom blog design, flipping websites, consulting, eBay, selling books on Amazon.com, freelance copywriting for large companies, affiliate marketing, owning my own network of niche sites, and product creation...I do a little bit of it all, and it really adds up!

If you're not making $2,000 a month online, there's no reason why you shouldn't be. I really do believe anyone can do it. They just have to have an open mind and be willing to diversify. There are so many money-making opportunities online, there's no reason NOT to make at least that much each month! I could easily fill a book with all the different ways I know to bring in cash (sometimes on the very same day I set out to make it). Really, it's easier than you think it is.

Everything depends also on the field you choose. Most of you in this forum are involved on internet marketing. Everything is totally different in this market.

Ask me about mental health, though...

I'm having success writing articles about internet marketing (now that I've learned my lessons after spending a lot), and selling my articles very easily, while in order to sell my excellent ebooks about mental health I have to keep writing articles to promote them. (I've already written more than 1000 articles about this topic). I'm selling my books, but now as much as I should. If my ebooks were about internet marketing I would probably be able to live with the money I would make online.

I'm insisting in a difficult field because I'm an expert. However, I realized that if you want to easily make money online, this is possible only through IM. Other fields online are totally different. Everyone online cares about making money. There are no exceptions.

However, how many people care about their mental health? And who do they trust?

Everyone can teach you how to make money, and you may trust a teen if he/she is successful. However, you would never trust a teen in order to find sound mental health if you were depressed. I have to prove many things to the public. My field is very, very difficult.

I may care more about internet marketing and write more articles about this so demanded topic, instead of writing more about mental health.

I come here to learn more with you, the experts. I know many things about marketing because I'm involved with factories and stores offline since I was a child. My parents and many of my family members have stores. I had a store too, which worked by itself before the crisis. Now I had to close it because nobody buys anything and my store's clothes were too expensive. I was thinking about working with my son, with cheaper merchandise, but we gave up. The situation in Greece is very sad.

Fortunately, now I've learned internet marketing, which is quite different (but also very similar) to offline marketing. I hope I can make a living online because the commerce in my country is completely paralyzed. Thank you for your lessons!

Yes I make more than 2k a month. I have several sources of income, but my bread and butter is ebooks. I made more than 2k each and every month this year from ebooks that I created prior to 2010. 100% passive income. I am also married with 4 children, and IM provides our only income. I hope to change this in 2011 or 2012. I am paying my house off as quickly as possible. Once it is paid off we intend to buy a rental.

Honestly, I don't spend a whole lot of time with IM. I am a full time student, I volunteer a lot with my church, travel, and spend a lot of time with my family.

I am not trying to brag, I just want to answer your question and say yes, it is possible. If that is what you want to do, go and get it done. I always found it motivational to hear what other people are making. I think a lot of times people don't tell the truth, but if they have been on the forum long enough it is easy to pick them out. There are also plenty of people that do tell the truth.

By the way, I am a small fish in the pond. Many people on this forum make incredible money. Enough that what I make is peanuts. They normally don't post what they make to the world either. Maybe in a private message, but not in a public post.

Yes, main source of income and I can say 100% that the testimonial of us on 20 Minute Payday is true. So at least that one I can say in not BS! (ps, we weren't paid for that and its not an affiliate site...I guess if I was smart I should be promoting as an affiliate at least but we're not in the IM niche at all!) Oh and we realllly did go from pretty poor to where we are now...had less than $30 in the bank when we started IM without a clue as to what we were getting into. Only saying this to let you know that at least our story is completely true and I'm the biggest fan of marketing online as a full-time income. Not yet, but it will be. I don't even expect to be rich; I just want to work entirely from home.

Thank you for posting this inquiry. I worked very hard for more than three years learning about numerous aspects of online marketing. Along the way, I saved money whenever possible, and then invested it as wisely as possible. After a tremendous, but worthwhile, amount of hard work, I set up my own company. I promise you it is possible. I am a single mom and and one of my children, my daughter, has autism. Please do not give up!

    Yes, for 5 years.

My main site actually sells a product my daughter and I created. We sell online (wholesale and retail) but also manufacture and pack and ship our physical products. This is certainly not a traditional online marketing model, but it's definitely profitable. Although we have facility, production, and related costs, we do not have affiliate programs and some online marketing costs typical for digital products. In total, we net about 40% of gross and that net is well over $2K per month.

How did it happen? Solid mentoring, keyword research, strong SEO, high organic rankings, smart PPC, article marketing, product reviews by bloggers, and social media marketing. I do admit is was a LOT of work to conquer the learning curves. But, it's been more than worth it!

I think of it, as helping other people make money.

    1) if I do a good job I get a reward.

    2) If I do an exception job, i get and even better rewards.

But the number one thing in business is that you have to help people. If money is first eventually you will find it hard to stay passionate.

can you say that when you get up in the morning and say to yourself, wow...I am going to help someone create their dream business today. Or say, wow...I am going to make anther human manifest their dreams into reality.... I wake up and say that to myself softly each morning as I am having breakfast. Sure keeps you motivated.

That my friends, is how you can get an infinite source of money, wealth and happiness in life.

  • Not hard, making the money is never the hard part. Its actually setting out to do and sticking to it rather than swapping from one thing to another and proscrastinating, or what others like to call, "getting ready to get ready".

Picture this, a membership site that provides a drip fed course over 12 months at 20 dollars per month (doesn't break the bank) and the course is actually helpful.

To make 2 k you would need 100 members each and every month. Now out of the 2 billion people who use the internet do you think you can attract 100 people? And then getting customers is not the hard part, but rather sitting down and doing the nitty gritty i.e Marketing.

And when people do even decide to market they are so unsure of it working that they do a bit of everything at its most minimal such as maybe do 1-2 articles, a post and maybe some forum comments. That'll only get you so far, but ofcourse by now you are convinced it can't work or that it really is hard work.

As for making an income from IM, if you count the debt from university courses, direct debits which I cancelled that I owe and the money spent jumping from course to course (yes I've made the same mistake in which I mention to avoid, which is why I'm telling you now), the money I started making wasn't all really mine until it all got payed of.

But thats what trying to find a shortcut does to you.

    Far from it still,

I work 12a-8a job at a halfway house (power draining) and then can only spend 4-5 hours daily working when I COULD do it all day (honestly). It is frustrating because the one cuts into the other, but when I work I am determined. But I have a long way to go...but I think I found my future carrer in the process...Web Design.

I know this is slightly OT but When I was in 3rd grade I wanted to be a web designer for haloween, my mother clueless put me in a lab coat...and thats about it.

My fun little story but I am glad I came back to that thought :]

Have a good day everything and for thanksgiving thank you warriors for all your help!

I find some a niche that money is being spent in, then I get my team together to attack it. It's like modern warfare out there. Once everythings in place and we're ready to move in we land like 50 thousand tons of bricks, know what I wanna pay for every vistor and I never go a single cent over. I then buy EVERYTHING in sight and push everybody out.

Yeah I'm extremely competitive! But yes I do earn all my income online.

Yeah it amazes me how many newbies want to make millons online yet haven't even made say $100 profit yet....What's wrong with building a real biz and making say $3k -$5K a month? Better than most jobs pay and you set your own hours time etc... Not saying you can't scale it...but be happy with that as a base $$$ and build IF YOU WANT TO.

Start with the 6 inches between your ears. If you view $2,000 per month as some crazy unattainable goal reserved only for the privileged few, it'll be a tough nut to crack. If you break it down and realize it's only 2 or 3 measly sales of an entry level Clickbank product per day, it feels much more doable.

this thread inspires so much, I'm still at the level of doing nothing and waiting for the money, and I hope one day i'll be able to go through and make money online too as many of you. You said 2k is the basic? Wow, that is crazy, hard work and determination bring results in IM and in life in general, so let's take a big breathe and start our business, so much infos out there, that is maybe why I'm blocked, let's see in 6 months
