Any reason to keep VPS over shared hosting if traffic is Low?

Hi, I was expecting to have a bunch of traffic, but I wont be having much. I got a hostgator VPS for $49.95 a month. I know I will not need this as far as performance, but would their be any other reasons to keep it instead of downgrading to a 9.95 a month shared hosting? I probably wont be running any custom scripts and things like that.. But this will be my business so I will want my hosting as reliable and safe as possible, but if paying an extra $40 a month is unpractical and not neccessary, let me know.

thanks

I do not see any reasons to pay that extra money if you will not be using that much resource for at least next 6 months. you can use that extra money to advertize your site or other useful means and you can move to vps again at any time when you will be needed.

Nah; you may as well downgrade to "shared hosting", then. No sense in paying out more than what you need to, eh.

No need for a VPS with this traffic...

I recently got rid of my VPS after 8 months. I should have done it after month 1.

Wishful thinking that I was gong to crush it on a certain project, haha. Wont make that mistake again.

Same here. The thing about hosting with a company that offers both shared hosting and VPS hosting (like hostgator) is it's no trouble at all to move between the two. You can always go back to a VPS if things pick up dramatically.
