    I usually find sub-niches in any niche by observing my environment, offline and online, and thinking outside the box.

    For example, 'weight loss recipes for newly wedded couples'.

    Google Search has a way of suggesting keywords when you type a particular keyword into the search bar. It's one way of getting a sub-niche.

      I will type general terms into the search at Google or use the wonder wheel.
      Then I will look at the suggestions and delve deeper into them.

      I have a lot of sites in the health/beauty area. Checking the stats I can find certain queries that come up over and over. You can make a site that specifically answers that question but has a little wiggle room to grow.

      Consumers are becoming more weary of thin sites also (as is Google). So I put on rich themes that look good but are simple. Then I may just add a few pages of very targeted content (adding more if it does well).

      With the more refined niches you are more likely to find buyers also.
