Made Profit with Newspaper ad--will affiliate program work?

hey everyone,

first time here....brand new to all of this...

geez where do i start....

been in a business for over 10 years ( with little or no competion we can find)...have done quite well (not rich)...decided to show others how to do the business and maybe make a little money...started a website three months ago selling our "business in a box"...

ran an ad in a major newspaper (in biz opps) for one weekend (3 days)....got only 27 hits but sold 5 kits...

each biz in a box sold for $1849.00....

want to see now if this would make a good affiliate program....want to pay $200 for tier 1 and $50 or $75 for tier 2...not sure yet..just really do not know where to start...

it would be easier for you to comment if i could show the url...just don't know if i am able to post it here....someone please let me know ....if you want to see it to comment just pm me..
anyway, any comments or criticism would be deeply appreciated...

got it in my signature...hope that helps....

guess my big question - is this something an affiliate would want to try to sell?

I'm new to this site, but I believe linking to your site in the signature is okay.

Your proposed commissions seem a little low, but maybe not.

My question is why not run the ad more often and in more places like biz-op magazines?

It seems like you have a fantastic conversion rate which is what's really important.

    Good luck,
    Mark

      Mark,

will not stop print advertising...in fact scheduled to run again nationally the week after thanksgiving....

will continue to do that as long as profitable....will start up heavy again after the new year.....just wondered if this was something that could be marketed in an affiliate program....personally i don't know - just too new at this...this all happened fairly rapidly...

yeah, i don't know about the commissions either, just throwing some numbers around now....

      any thoughts?

A lot of people are now looking at promoting physical products as an affiliate because the information market is so competitive - if you are ranking well for some well-searched keyword terms then I don't see why some affiliates wouldn't take it on as an additional product - it seems to be something that would lend itself well to a mini site or specialty niche site.

What you could do is set up a page on your site for affiliates - give them a link they can promote so they know they will get paid for their efforts - offer them a reasonable commission rate and if you can supply some emails, articles or ad copy that they can use in their own promotion efforts.

    best of luck
    Lisa

I agree with Lisa and also Mark (as far as the commisions is concerned).

Once you become more familiar with IM you will learn that most affiliates make a pretty hefty percentage, however, yours being a physical product (of sorts) does factor in and would most likely allow you to offer a bit lower commisions than is standard for say digitial products (such as downloadable items).

I could be way off with this guesstimate but considering the product sells for $1849 I would imagine most worthwhile affiliates (those who could bring you some serious sales) would want somewhere near 15%, maybe more. I know it doesnt exactly relate but keep in mind that several digital products pay affiliates upwards of 50%.

    Just food for thought...

    Fisheye,

I would say run the ad again and again until it stops working.

I took a look at your website, nice concept, but i think you need a good copywriter to redo the salescopy.

I can help here, as i'm preety good at copywriting and have lots of clients in my country. (not tooting my horn here)

Just send me a PM or email ronald@infomarketingnigeria.com

If you can scan and upload your advert, the one in the newspaper, i could also improve it.

NOTE: I'm not expecting any payment from you. Just helping out.

You need to get this bit done, so that when you install an affiliate system, the sales will come in like a tsunami.

    Well, hope this helps.
