No Clue What I Need To Do Next

I am unfortunately a newbie here.. I wish that i could achieve some of the great thing everyone here has done before me... I have a Blog (link in my signature) and I am posting articles on sites like associated content, ezinearticles, and squidoo. I am currently waiting for them to approve me, and am sitting here writing more and more articles assuming that i will benifit from the more that i post to those sites..

In one way or another these sites link back to my blog, and i have some affiliate products available on my blog. Hopefully i am off to a start in the right direction.

Any input or guidance would be very much appreciated

Biggest tip i can give a newbie, keyword research, there are tons of products posts and information around about it.

Keyword research is one of the most critical parts of any online marketing, if you get it wrong, you could be doing alot of work for no results. It doesn't matter if you rank #1 on google if nobody is searching for that term.

If you can get you head around it sooner rather then later, you'll be much more likey to get results in anything you try.

The other tip, don't be a victom of shiny object's. Things take work to get results, and if you expect instant results, you'll be moving onto the next thing before you know it. Just stick to what you try, if your not sure how long before you should be getting results - as the owner of the product/poster of the information etc.

You seem to be on the right track. I am new to this stuff also but it seems to me that people are drilling the concept of keyword research, content creation and backlinking so that is where most of my focus is right now for my product.

Constant action and patience for results seems to be the way to go.

thank you justin for your advice. i am trying some things that i read on here that is a must for newbies to do to get thier feet wet in this whole internet scheme. It may be a dumb question but im assuming that just because a keyword has the most results, this doesnt mean its the best keyword for you. I am making this assumption based on my thought that if its the best, everyone is using it, which would make it much harder to get my site seen correct me if im wrong
      thanks

That's correct. If you type the search term into google with quotes around it it will give you the results for that exact search term. Also if you type allintitle: followed by that search term it will narrow the searches down to exactly how many sites have that term in the title. This is a good way to find exactly how much competition you will have for certain keywords. You can then cross reference that with the google keyword tool to find what the best keywords to target would be.

hey thank you B an B that makes sense it is all kind of overwhelming.

I know i will be able to do this, because it is truly taking over my everyday thoughts, i cant wait to get home from work and start working on my future lol.

I am glad that i am at least off to the right start it is a huge weight off my chest.. ideally this isnt the topic i am most intrested in. i have ideas that i think will be great, however this is what i was told i should do to get used to the whole process before i go ahead and do anything else

It's more a matter of effort vs reward, you can go for high volume search keywords, but you have to gague how hard it will be to outrank people on the first page for those keywords.

Alot of keyword research on IM forums, is about identifing "action" and "buying" words, ie you can target "speakers" if you want, but targeting something like "outdoor pink speaker coupon" might be better, you might only get 20 visitors a month, but they are the type of people looking to buy right now.

and B and B is right, it's basically -> get keywords -> build content (ie posts / pages) -> build links to content. you'll find most products are like this, with the main difference is how to monetize the keywords (ie Adsense, Amazon, Ebay, CPA etc).

What ever way you do choose to go, just stick with it, and you will get results.

Your blog is nice but my advice would be > go and buy your own domain. Right now you are building Blogger and not your site and one day Blogger may decide to close that page and you cannot do anything.

If you want to keep going with the blog thing, you might want to think about getting your own domain and just keep putting good content up and start building relationships with other bloggers.

Also check out problogger.net and howtomakemyblog.com, they are both great resources for building great blogs.

Nothing unfortunate with being new to the game. Eventually, you too
will come here one day and help others asking similar questions to your
    own.

You're one of the rare ones who take action despite not knowing every-
thing there is to know (because you never will) about IM.

You're doing exactly what I'm doing for one of my niche websites and that's
article marketing. It WORKS. NEVER let anyone tell you otherwise because I
make more money than I know what to do with BECAUSE of
    bum marketing.

It's HARD to keep writing without having had proof of results yet, but
you will see proof of your labor soon enough and it will strengthen your
belief and conviction that what you're doing works, and no one will be
able to stand in your way.

So, until the day you do make money on your blog from your articles I
will give you permission to keep pushing forward.

The ONLY thing I would change big time is how your making money on
your blog. You have "Adsense" on your blog, and I guess that's okay if
you want to make a few pennies here and there -- but if you want to
make $50 - $100+ per day I would focus my attention on clickbank or
other affiliate programs for weight loss.

Does this mean you would recomend focusing the main idea of what i am doing around these products pushing the sale or just having them on my site about weight loss

thanks everyone this really inspires me to keep doing this. I know i am far from the profits that i would like to get from doing this, however i am trying and thats more than i can say for alot of people in today's economy. Good question.

If you want to make sales, you focus on SELLING the products you have
on your blog. If you want READERS (with sales as an AFTERTHOUGHT),
than you keep doing what you're doing.

I want you to reaaaaly think hard about this:

Would having them on your site about weight loss make you money, or will
focusing on selling one or two products make you money? Which one will
        give you RESULTS?

People who READ about weight loss for free on your blog, or people who
are motivated to BUY weight loss products on your blog?

If you're going to traffic, does it not make more sense to direct them to
one of your products instead of the adsense on your blog where they
        will NEVER buy from you?

I won't answer these questions for you because only YOU can answer
these questions for YOU. It really all depends on rather or not you're
focus is on SALES or READERSHIP. One MAKES you money, the other
        does NOT.

This is exactly what i was looking for when i asked that question. I see exactly what you are saying, why take all the time to put everything together, if i am not going to get them to do what i ultimatley want them to. Readers are great i believe, however i am trying to make money doing this and adsense is not the way to do this.. I know i dont click on the links when im on the internet, so why would anyone else...

    Hi

I have looked at your website and you have no optin forms to gather email addresses.
its important to build a list with optin forms. at least 2 or 3 optin forms.

The next step is to join a autoresponder service like AWEBER. If you have these 2 main connections in place, then you can market your products to the emails you have gathered.

Have you also registered with clickbank?

This is how you will start earning money.

i am not really sure how to put an option to gather emails... if you could help at all i would be grateful. i will start searching some threads here about it.

i really like the idea of an auto responder, especially if i can give good solid encouraging advice at first to my list and then maybe after a few good emails encourage some of my affiliate products.

I have clickbank account and also a a markethealth.com account which i have a couple of products i am promoting on my site already

Again i appologize for the questions that are already answered throughout the forum. sometimes its overwheming to search and read all the responses

You definitely want to get an autoresponder so that you can communicate whenever you want with your subscribers, and promote your affiliate offers every now and then. I'd recommend going with Profollow, Aweber or Getresponse. They're all excellent autoresponders with high deliverabiliy rates.

Basically you will be given the code for an opt-in box which you then insert somewhere on your blog. The autoresponder will keep track of all sign-ups and enable you to broadcast and send regular emails to them.

yes, building a list of people is the best thing you can do for your business.

Especially if you do it properly look after them and genuinely want to help people succeed in their business practices.

My biggest bit of advice to you is to buy your own domain and build up your own website. Blogger could shut you down in a heartbeat, so I wouldn't invest too much time in a Blogger blog, other than as a way to backlink to MY SITE!

        Good luck.

Nick, it's definitely a good first effort. I'd definitely spring for the small expense of a domain name, and also a real autoresponder like Aweber or Getresponse so that you can communicate with your subscribers. You probably want to write a short book or report as a giveaway to get them interested in subscribing though.

In addition to that, I'd test Clickbank and CPA offers in addition to the predominantly Adsense layout you have to see which gives you better results. I have a feeling that Adsense may not work so well in your blog, but there's really no way of telling unless you test these variables.

Other than that, you're doing a very good job. Take the time to research the right keywords to base your articles on, and if you get this right you should be able to drive a steady stream of targeted traffic to your blog.

Just by posting articles and waiting for the article directories to approve it do not help you in promoting your blog. First of all, search engines need to know that your blog exists. So, post the blog URL to search engines through webmaster account on respective webmaster console's. Then once your blog has been crawled by search engines you can start your promotional activities. This is what most of the internet marketing companies does when they need to build it right from the scratch (new domain registration and website design). It would be a good idea to get yourself a domain and a hosting account setup for your weight loss blog. You can then setup a WordPress blog on your domain and post away. A WordPress blog is more SEO friendly and can rank high in search engines provided you target your keywords correctly.

Next step would be to find low competitive keywords and write articles around that keyword. Try to write at least one article a day and post it on your blog. So in one months time, you would have a decent amount of content on your blog and this will help drive more free traffic. You might also want to install analytics into your blog to analyze your traffic. This way, you can have a better understanding of your traffic and demographics, which will enable you to write content that interest this group of people who are reading your blog.

Next up, you might want to try video marketing. Post a good content video on Youtube and you will be amazed at the hoards of traffic you can get from there. Make sure you target the right keywords in your video title and tags. You can then link to your blog from your video, sending more free traffic to your blog.

Besides promoting ClickBank weight loss products as most suggested, you can also try to join several CPA networks (e.g. MarketHealth.com) and promote weight loss CPA offers. They convert well if you have a decent amount of traffic to your blog.

Work on the above and you will be able to see improvements to your blog. Consistency and focus is key to success here.

Hi - looks like you're off to a good start!
When you are writing your articles, make sure they have the key components of a good article marketing article - alluring content, an attention-grabbing picture, and clear links back to your blog.
If your articles aren't quality, even if they do get approved they won't get you many customers!

      Best of luck!
