Need Some ideas!!!

hey all i have been doing a bit of keyword research the last few days and have stumbled upon something that might get my im career rolling and actually make some money.. well i have found this keyword which is kinda pretty broad lets say "Soccer Balls" for and example. when i was doing the research i found that it has 12,100 global monthly searches and 9,900 local..i also found out that the domain name with the exact keyword in it like "www soccerballs com" is for sale and i am thinking of buying it.

now my question is how would you go about monetizing it seen as its such a broad keyword and there is so many types and makes of different "soccer balls". would you make it into a review site for all the different makes and types of soccer balls and put amazon links and stuff like that or would you make it into kind of a shop selling different types of soccer balls..or what other suggestions or ideas would you have??

any help on this is appreciated

You need check that the search term was an exact search so you are not having your numbers twisted by people looking for "pictures of soccer balls" or something similar.

You would be probably best to concentrate on a particular type of "soccer ball" and build a simple webpage around that theme and put google adsense on it and maybe a few affiliate products from amazon or something.

    Hope this helps

How are people in the more specific niches monetizing?

As illustrated above, you could have a bunch of people looking for photos or free information - which may not be good to monetize.

Someone here just had a similar problem. They had a great keyword domain and were even getting traffic but it was not a buying niche or buyers keywords.

i've been learning to look for as much "energy" as possible, are people paying for ppc, are there reviews from purchasers on amazon or other retail sites, are there any articles posted or ads on magazine sites such as "sports illustrated" for "soccer balls", look for how many comments those articles are getting and what the demographic for that site is with tools like quantcast.com (thanks keithdougherty), think like the buyer as much as possible and try to hang out where they hang out and see what they have to say about "soccer balls", even with all that there is still obviously a chance of low or no conversions but thats why i'm learning to have multiple, multiple egg baskets, hope that helps a bit, sorry for rambling, snuck some stuffing and cranberry sauce out of the kitchen!
