Your question is a little too vague...

But in general, email marketing works... Everyone who's making substantial money in this industry have lists... JV partners will come to you if you have a list.

But of course it doesn't mean just because you have a list, you're gonna make money... you got to cultivate your list, build trust, credibility, authority etc and provide massive value first... if you go about it the wrong way, I won't be surprised you won't make any money regardless of how big the list is.

      LOL heck yeah it works!

I just ran a promotion for my friend that did over $115,000 in like 3 days...

      All from email traffic.

IMO there isn't much out there traffic-wise that is better.

Only thing I can think of that would be better is TV traffic endorsed by someone with a big fan base.

      SPAM does not work, no.

But do lists work? Absolutely. There's a pretty obvious difference between the two. Spam is just mindless sending of offers and other garbage to any e-mail a spammer can get their hands on. But, due to spam blockers etc, this does not work anymore.

Lists are just when trustworthy (or seemingly trustworthy) marketers take your email that you opted-in to give and send you some ideas they have and offers from time to time. This isn't spam, it's just emails that you opted to be sent.

Yes! Email marketing is a quick, easy, cheap, and efficient way of getting your brand in front of current and potential client's.

    Yes it works
I think the new kids who use email marketing make one huge mistake, from day one they start to send their promotions from clickbank and so on. Number one rule in email marketing you have to have trust from your list, they have to get to know you, you need to give good information for free and then you can send out promotions, I signed up for few people who were supposed to teach me so called secrets and all i got was just a bunch of promotions and that ticked me off lol which is why i don't receive from them anything anymore because i unsubscribed. On other hand I have few people who have been sending me information for the past 2 years, and yes they do send me some promotions but 80% is free. So like I said first comes trust and free info then promotions

When used with common sense, email marketing can really work. And there is a huge difference between email marketing and spamming.
If I subscribe to a newsletter or whatever, I do it because I am interested and I want to receive emails, but I really hate from the bottom of my heart those annoying, uninvited messages advertising money-making schemes, porn, or sales of any kind...

Does it work? Undoubtedly. If you do it right.

Actually, very few emails sent by professional email marketers, utilising a dedicated and professional mailing list / email marketing service, get labelled as spam, it seems.

I've got a whole ton of email addresses both on my own domains, and with services such as Gmail, GMX and Yahoo, with which I've subscribed to many mailing lists over the years - and rarely do any of the emails from those lists go into the SPAM folder.

In fact, for me, the sorts of emails used widely by people here (and among internet marketers in general) - those that are predominantly text-based, with no images, and include the occasional (or regular) affiliate link and such - seem to be automatically labelled or handled as spam even less in comparison to those glossy "company newsletter" / traditional Ezine emails some people/companies send out.

I expect that may, in part, be to do with the fact many companies (large and small) choose to host their own mailing lists and send using their own servers; servers that aren't "whitelisted" nor deemed as "safe" or trusted by spam-stopping organisations and systems, because they're not recognised as being servers that belong to professional, dedicated email marketing service providers.

So here's the moral of the story: for best results, choose your provider wisely - and don't even think about using your own web host (or your own home computer / network) through which to send your marketing emails.

Email marketing is nothing else but marketing through email. By using email marketing you can save valuable time and effort, but it will cost a bit of money.

Email Marketing works, Spam does not.
Also, depends on how targeted, updated your list is. If u hav a list of opt in users, then it will affect your ROI.

Definitely. But build a relationship with your list by providing tremendous value first, eg, overdeliver on your products and/or content. For example with my product Ultimate Footer Ad, I provide free upgrades for the lifetime of the product. We started on v1.0 and I'm shortly to be launching v3.1. This generates tremendous goodwill with our buyers.

That's another thing, build a list of buyers, they'll be far more responsive than a list of freebie-seekers.

Also target your email offers. My list consists of software buyers, and by far the best earners for me have been when I've promoted other people's software products.

Not if you use a mainstream autoresponder service like Aweber or GetResponse, they don't. The deliverability, and the lack of those emails "going into spam", are exactly the service those places are providing.

There's certainly a large number of people here making very good livings from email marketing.

      It works!
It's a cheap, fast way to reach a large base of customers, and unlike direct mail, it's easy to track the effectiveness of an e-mail marketing campaign electronically.

Of course it works (are we honestly having this discussion on an
      internet marketing forum?)

For those saying it doesn't work is getting email from people they
do not have a bond with yet.

There is WAY more to email marketing than getting a list and
      pummeling them with affiliate offers.

Put some effort into the relationship and email marketing will
      pay off.

Email marketing is an effective way of seo. It will increase traffic to your site and also it is inexpensive compared to other seo techniques.

Email definatly works, but I can imagine a time when it wont. I myself only check my email a few times a month because for the most part the people I know I want to talk to are my FB friends or can send me a text. I use email primarily to keep up on promotions that are happening the niches I work with, and more and more people are not using email, esp the under 25 crowd.
It is for now still very effective, but i can see a time coming when it wont be.

Of course email marketing works, if done correctly. Spamming people obviously doesn't work, the proper way of email marketing entails building a legitimate single opt-in or double-optin list of people who you communicate with consistently and deliver value to. This helps you develop a relationship with them, which in turn allows you to act as a trusted advisor and recommend related products and services which you can profit from.

    Hello Rohn,

Email marketing definitely works. Emails don't reach SPAM if you're using a good service like AWeber or iContact (cause that's their job ) .You also got to monitor the ratio of subscribers marking your emails as spam. If its a lot, then your subscribers are not targeted. Work on getting better quality opt-ins from targeted traffic sources.

    Wish you all the best,
    - Swarup

I think it is not suggested to use email marketting because people think it is a spam and only 1 % are believing this kind of marketting. Try to express your item/business on social networking site and i know it is much better than email. Hope i help. Have a great day
