$0-$500 a month in 6 months - is it possible?

Hi guys,

I know this is a bit of a 'how long is apiece of string?' question but I am almost a complete newbie to IM (have done some reading in the past, set up a blog on wordpress but never put content on).

My goal is to quit my job in 6 months and I will need at least $500 a month by then to do it. Until then I will be working every evening and at weekend, (about 25 hours a week) on this, is this a realistic timescale if I put in the work or should I expect it to take longer than this?

Will appreciate any opinions on this, i'm gonna go for it anyway but i've no idea how long to expect the process to take.

$500/month? You must be from the Philippines or another lower cost country.

Can you do that in 6 months? Absolutely....and much more.

Yep, I agree with this. In my opinion, you should aim higher. Like $500 a week or something.

If you could get just one sale worth $20 everyday you will get $600 a month.
Can you make it? Only you can answer that.

It will all boil down to you. It can be done in less than 6 months even.

Here are some tips to get you going:

1.Select a niche, and make sure it is a buying niche. This means the people are actually paying for the information you are going to provide or the physical product.

      2. Analyze the different ways to monetize the niche. Essentially there are 3 ways to make money - sell your own stuff, sell other peoples stuff, or sell a service. Each of these breaks down more - IE selling other peoples stuff can be done through affiliate programs and these break down even further - clickbank is a directory of affiliate programs for primarily digital products while amazon pays affiliates for referrals which can be for a numerous number of products. Decide how your niche is spending their money and you will find the best way for you to monetize it. You won't need to know everything if you stay targeted on how your niche needs to be serviced.

      3. Create a business plan and stay focused. Don't waste time learning about methods that are not needed right away. For instance, if you decide to promote a clickbank product, do not go buy a course on how to use adsense.

      4. Use the search function on this forum and on Google. If you don't know what something is, look it up first before asking. Many of your questions (that you will have) are already answered. Searching for this answer first will help you learn more quickly and save time.

      5. Realize you will make mistakes. Everyone does and that is the best way of learning.

      Good luck!

      Thanks for the responses guys.

@ Barry - yes I plan to move to Thailand, live cheaply and build my IM business up full time from there. In between sunbathing. I reckon $500 is about the minimum to keep me off the breadline :-)

I plan to use GPower2's strategy detailed here (sorry dont yet have enough posts to put up the link, you'll have to piece it together yourself): [warrior forum-dot-com]main-internet-marketing-discussion-forum/282674-150-websites-making-6-100-per-day-you-can-do-too-my-online-business-strategy[.HTML AT END]

I'm gonna buy his product and follow the formula using clickbank products, but i'm concerned that this might be more of a long-term strategy (although very passive once you get it established). Would I perhaps be better off with PPC-coach in order to get to my target quicker?

My goal is to have a decent passive income so I can spend my time writing.

      Grateful for your thoughts.

Stevie, I think with the strategy you mention it'd definitely be possible to see results within a few months if you stick with it. You may have to do everything yourself initially, especially if money is tight, as there are expenses involved with backlinking, etc. that can amount to quite a bit especially if you're working on multiple sites (which you should).

Are you serious or have you got savings too?

living on $500 per month is going to be seriously tough!

I have spent about a year living in Thailand all together over the past 2 years, the lowest I got by on was when I first went to work as a teacher in BKK, I got paid 32k Baht per month ($1064.26) and I was ALWAYS skint.

That was living in a non-tourist area of BKK. If you want to go to a nice coastal area you're gonna have big problems trying to manage on $500. Just your power bill (if you're in your room on your pc all the time with aircon/fan) will cost you at least 2000 baht per month $66

If you wanna have any kind of social life, eat well (you can only eat so many noodle soups) and have an ok room (if you gotta work in there it can't be a dive) you will need $1000 minimum, but it would be hard.

$500 per month from IM is nothing, you should aim for double that mate. If you put the work in and invest what you already have wisely you'll fly it.

It's very possible. You'll have to knuckle down and focus on one method, and one method only. If you're serious about this and choose to go the product creation route and/or offer services (like article writing, blog setup, backlinking, etc.) , I see no reason why you couldn't reach your target within a month or less.

Start small. Create a solid plan to follow and put it into action. Aim for small goals, such as $5 a day, $10 a day and so on. Continue to be consistent and keep putting in the work. When you start to find out what works for you, start to scale it so you can keep driving up your earnings.

It all starts with a solid plan, focus and consistent work. Find a niche with desperate buyers and a proven product. That will make your life a whole lot easier.

Probably, if you work REALLY hard, stay focused and determined and stick to your plan. It is quite possible, but we must also know what skills you have already, experience, etc...maybe it can be done even quicker than that. Maybe it will take more. Luck is also a factor.

Hmm, this is a difficult one. I think you should really invest in studying and perfecting your English. I know this takes time.

It took me a few years to get my English to the level it is now and I'm still learning and perfecting it to this day even though my English is fluent I still feel like I'm never done studying. It's hard especially because you're not surrounded by people who speak English on a daily basis.

I assume you're French? Do you have money to outsource article marketing and let others do the work for you? If you don't have the money, try to see if you can find some affiliate programs for the French market. That means perhaps you have to stay away from Clickbank.com and such.

Or try to sell physical products on Amazon or CJ.com. Most of them don't need much article writing.

Answering this questions is assuming A LOT of answers to questions that only you know. But with that aside.

The first thing you're going to have to do is learn about internet marketing. All the suggestions here such as finding a niche, getting traffic, SEO, etc are things a person should already know about before actually starting anything.

It's been my experience in teaching people that if you start out without knowing anything and just following a course, or guru, that you just purchased then your not going to make it.

    Hope this helps.

  • you ask if 500/month is possible?

My answer is that could be the worst case scenario in my case (actually anything less than 500 is worser but just go with it).

You could be earning 2k, 5k, 10k, 100k or who knows 6 month from now. Its all about what you decide to do, at what scale you decide to do it and the demand for what ever you choose.

You are aiming too low, way way way too low. Aim high (and by this I don't mean stupidly high), so even if you don't meet your goal, you land higher.

You can actually earn that amount doing surveys and cashback offers online monthly or doing tasks on a daily basis freelancing.

  • if you can call $500 much if you consistantly participate in surveys they generally invite you to more surveys and better paying ones, add that with free cashback offers monthly and you can make anywhere between 300-600 a month.

You have had a lot of good advice on this thread about being focused and sticking to a plan which is the best of ideas - just make sure that the idea you stick with is one you can commit your time to - that you enjoy enough to keep doing it after a day at your other job.

My 2 cents worth - don't wait for things to be perfect - take actoin, get something out there and then start tweaking as you go.

Lisa, this perfectionism is a curse that can really prevent you from getting started. I remember several years ago stubbornly refusing to set up any websites for myself, due to the mistaken notion that it had to be as slick and flashy as something that a web design professional would put out.

It took me at least 2 years to get up the courage to finally design my first simple website, and while it didn't look all that great, it wasn't that bad either, and my confidence and expertise grew by leaps and bounds after that, but only because I took that initial imperfect action!

Without action, nothing gets accomplished...just get something going, even if you're not sure which direction you're headed. You'll be miles ahead of someone who doesn't, and this is something that's guaranteed!

It is possible, but maybe not 100% Profit. Also I know this sounds soo bad but I am creating a product called "hubpage Mania" It will go on sale in roughly 2/3 weeks. It tells you how to go from $0 - $500. I know that sounds to good to be true but maybe you can have a trial version and write a testimonial for WSO? P.m. me if you are interested.

I suppose I'm a little worried, especially with your decision to release that WSO. It could be very counterproductive if it distracts you from what you really want to do.

It's not to hart to make $500 in 6 months.

    Ex:
You're going to promote amazon products
    you've to earn $17 / day that mean you've to get order like $300 x 1 or $150 x 2
If your convertion quite bad like 300:1 that mean you've to drive target traffic about 300-600 a day.

      Hi
this is my first post on this forum. I'm Ben 21 years old living in Germany. I started out with IM ca. 2 Months ago. At the moment I'm working on the german market only.

My tips for you: Your goal making 500 bucks a month is not impossible, i would not suggest you to set your goals higher. That was a problem for me. I setted my goals very high and i couldn't reach any goal that i had setted for my self. This was a very big dissapointment for me and i started to believe that IM is not working....maybe working for other people but not for me.

I did buy a IM Starterbook which was wasted money because all the Informations in there i could have find on the internet for free. In this book where featured so many different methods of making money. But they didn't digg deep enough. So don't waste your money on products you don't need.

If you say i spend 25hrs a week for my Internet Business, then make sure you spend those 25hrs working and not surfing the web and getting sucked into these ****ty guru products that promise you "with 30 clicks you are gonna make 30000$ a month".

Try to focus on your projects, if you need more knowledge for your project, try to find these informations for free. If they are not available buy a course but only a course that is specific about the things you need to improove your business.

If you fail with your project, dont just quit it and move to another project. Try to find the reason for your fail. The reason could be that you don't have enough traffic. Or your Saletext doesn't convert people into buyers. and so on.

You won't have succes selling beethoven music to 16-30 years old guys. Actually these guys won't buy any music from you, they will donwload it somewhere for free. I made this experience myself xD.

So just analyse your project, find the source for your failure and fix it.

And i got to tell you the quote that's always a very good motivator for me.

"It's ok to fail, but it's not ok to quit" - Chris Gardner

I hope for you that you achieve your goals. Good Luck

      sry for my bad english

$500 a month is not enough. Aim higher.

There are tons of big ticket high paying items that you can sell and make over $5000 off 1 sale.

    The moon is the limit.

The thing about affiliate marketing is that you determine how much money you make. If you really work at it, it will pay off big time! If you only put in like10-15hrs a week youll make a little but not what you could! But if your working 25hrs per week in six months you should be making at least 1000$/month! Good Luck!

There are no guarantees, of course, but it can be done, because I have done it and I know others who have too. But you could end up making much more than that, and less, depending on what you do.

I would try it out, in a small scale, and once I know a bit more about what I am doing, try to make a plan based on that. It really depends so much on what you intend to do, and how.

Either way, do not give up easily, these things usually take time, and the best of luck to you!

I definitely think it's possible. Don't do what I did when I first came out of the gate, which was totally ignore keyword competition. You have to not only make sure it's a buying niche but also make sure it's not too competitive. Otherwise, you might spend end hours trying to get your page rank to go up, and at this early stage, such aggravation could seriously put a dent in your motivation

Thanks a lot for all the responses guys, this has been really encouraging.

It seems from reading through the responses that the key is really staying motivated in the early months. As I plan to use IM as a way of finding time to write more, i'm going to focus on building high quality websites around niches that interest me and go for more natural traffic. That is to say, spend more time on content to generate a lot of backlinks than SEO, etc..

Thanks for the advice about aiming for more money, of course I'm gonna aim for much more than $500 a month, I just picked that as a figure because I reckoned it was the cheapest I could get by in Thailand, therefore was the soonest I could quit my wage-slave job and take up IM full time (and so accelerate the process).

I would save up enough to last you 6 months first, then move, otherwise you're going to spend your time writing articles or similar stuff and not working on your IM business.

There are quite a lot of IM'ers in Thailand and plenty of opportunities if you work at it.

I reckon you are a newbie. Well, 10 months ago I was new to all this and didn't have a clue about how to go about this. But I now make a good income from the internet.
See my recent posts on progress with the WF.

One piece of advise - if you want to hit $500 / mo, you'l need to avoid GURU hype.
I reached this far by ignoring GURU's.

Just learn from free forums like these and TAKE ACTION - there is no SECRET FORMULA!

      All the best.

I'd say it's very possible. If you can knuckle down and focus on one method for at least 2-3 hours per day, 5 days a week, I'd be almost certain you could reach a consistent low 4 figures every month at the end of those 6 months.

Unless you're already making 4 figures per month now, 15k/month in 6 months may be a bit of a stretch. Set intermediate goals for yourself in addition to that 15k/month, this way you'll know you're making progress and you'll stay motivated on that journey to your stated goal.

It is truly possible, but it depends on your time management, skills and performance of your job or career. It will take time, so it all starts doing hard work and effort before you can reach that amount. Just be positive and never give up on that challenge!
