The problem with buying or trading "fans" is these people who will become your fans are fans of who knows how many others pages and get bombarded by advertisements and a whole number of other things.

Mainly these people that will be you fan members are just people who like to be in a huge network of people because its "cool".

This is correct, another negative is the fact that they are not targeted to your niche. If you post too often these people are likely to leave the group at the drop of a hat.

This is a topic that cannot really be bought, only earned.

One thing I learned about social media marketing is that your fans, followers, friends, or whatever have to be organic. In other words, they need to be genuinely interested in you, your page, or your company. Otherwise you'll get lousy conversions for whatever you are promoting.

my first impression when I read about this was that they probably run FB ad campaigns to get the fans, because they promise that the fans will be targeted. However I have tried doing so myself and apparently I am spending nearly $2 per fan +_+. I have just started though so there will be a lot of testing before I can start getting a good return. However I no longer think that this is their de facto way.

Buying fans is NOT going to get you very far. The only way you will have a successful fanpage is by having fans who are truly interested in your product or business and want to be a fan.

In most cases the fans you will be delivered are nothing more than fake accounts that have been set up for this sole purpose. There is software out there right now that can create hundreds of these fake facebook accounts a day.

The only time I would ever use a service like this is when my fanpage has just been created. You might order 100 fans or so just to get some social proof going. No one wants to join a fanpage that has 0 fans.

I dont think plain marketing to the fans is something that Facebook will ban you for. This is why you have fan pages in the first place, they are meant for businesses to reach out to their clients and open two way communication. Yes, if you created a standard profile account, went on a friend adding spree and started an in your face marketing campaign then you're just asking for a permanent ban. We have thought out a few interesting campaigns for our FB audience and so far the response is appreciable. Also if marketing on FB was a problem then they wouldn't have an ad system in the first place.

Just because Facebook has an ad platform doesn't mean your free to do what you want too.

Agreed there, what i was saying however is that advertising is not a problem on FB, I have very prominently displayed an item in an ad and it seems to be working just fine. Essentially it is part of a free give-away activity that we are currently running on our fan page. The only problem I am having is that the acquisition cost per fan is kinda big

If you do know some ways of promoting or reaching out to people without running ads I am really all ears

Most of "fans" you get from these sellers are actually real. With good enough content, they might even really become "fans" and spread the word for you.

Try to get targeted fans, specifically, make sure where these fans are from

Stop trying to do things the lazy way. Get out there and build your fans naturally. If you have to pay people to become your fans then doesn't that tell you something. Maybe you should concentrate on creating some content that actually excites people and turns them into raving fans.

That's exactly what I was going to say. A few months ago I bought a service on fiverr - promoting a new site to xxx Twitter followers. It became very obvious, very quickly that the "followers" were all accounts that had been set up solely for the purpose of making the promotion offer on fiverr.

My guess is that the same would apply to FB. They aren't real "fans", they aren't even real people.

I've met lots of sellers with huge lists. Just a simple invite to like something will give thousands of likes...from REAL people, plus they share it to friends.

I'm also looking into this at the moment as I'm about to launch a new FB fan page, but am wary of buying fans. Apart from not "feeling" right, who knows what FB guidelines are in place for this kind of thing. I don't want to give them an excuse to pull the plug on the fan page...

Tomorrow I'm actually sitting with some social media specialists who are experts on FB. They have a large number of clients with great FB pages, each with lots of fans. Will quiz them on how they get their fans, especially initially. If I hear anything exciting, will let you guys know.

When you buy fans, it's doubtful if they'll respond to your Facebook marketing campaigns like real fans would.

You have no idea if they even like what you're offering, since they were incentivized to like you. You might get lucky and end up monetizing some fans in addition to getting them excited about your offer, but I think that buying fans is pretty much a hit and miss affair.

It might help if your offer is one that is general interest and appeals to a wide spectrum of people, in which case you have a dramatically higher chance of getting your "bought" fans truly interacting and responding to you.

Whether you buy fans or not, when someone visits your fan page and sees how many fans you have, they will be more likely to "Like" your page as well. That way you will eventually gain fans who actually want to be there compared to the original fans who may "Unlike" your page due to being incentivized.

There are loads of websites out there that sell either fan page invites and guaranteed fans. They are not the same, invites means say 10k people get invite and maybe 200 join whereas guaranteed fans means fans on the page and you don't have to worry about the number of invites.

These sites can be good and I recommend searching around as prices vary a lot! As well as quality. Another point to note is that some of these sites are changing hands frequently on flippa and obviously vary in quality. Some owners are trying to make a quick buck others are actually providing a decent service

I’ve found that if you have to pay someone to do something then they are “employees”. Do the people you know call work to find out what’s going on after hours or on their days off? I don’t think so.

But fans follow you because they like you or are interested in what you are doing. You need true fans, paid ones won’t care about you, your business, or anything else you’re doing.

i agree with what others posted. you will never know if they are within your target market. hence, there's a chance that the number of fans you'll obtain will start and end with the number of fans you "bought" and may take some time before you expand your network. just do your best to establish your name on it. you'll start building up your network in no time.

I'm not sure what business you are in, but, think about creating viral content. Something that appeals to people in your market. e.g. a funny video. There are lots of possibilities for this.

As mentioned several times above, buy fans is probably not going to be your best solution. Think outside the box....

Quite a bit of what I was thinking has already been said, but I'll chime in anyway.

Buying FB fans? Bad idea. I saw someone mentioned Fiverr... Right, it's only $5 for a blast out to 10,000+.

But those 10,000 people are NOT targeted... AT ALL. Hard to believe, but you still might get close to nothing from that huge exposure.

In my experience the best Fan Pages are the ones centered around common ideas, beliefs, and general humor. How about setting one up like that, and then getting traffic to trickle over to your company page from there?

When I set up a new Fan Page for a client, it's AFTER I already have several things working in my favor. FB profile, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc... plus a WP blog.

When all of those work together to bring traffic back to the blog (main hub)... Getting fans isn't a big deal. A widget on the blog is all it takes.

You can place widget on your site showing how many fans and followers you have and crowd mentality takes over. People visiting your blog will see the widget with all these thousands of followers and will think that what you have is must be worth a second look. Why else would all these people be following you!

But don't be fooled these wont be targeted followers, they are merely padding until you start to grow your own fans.

You made a couple good points here, SuccessBlogsUK!

I'd like to comment on an couple things.

#1, the targeted followers idea. Too many people think they've got it "made in the shade" after they've built a FB page, or Twitter account up to 1,000s of fans/followers.

Targeting is very important, and it's often overlooked. Heck, I'd want 500 people that are interested in the SAME thing over 10,000 where I had no idea.... ya know?

#2 - The like/follow box/widget. Again, good point. Great if you've got a high number to show off... Because it WOULD attract more attention.

HOWEVER, I wouldn't advise putting a box like that on a site if you had a small number. I mean something might happen, but you'll most likely be disappointed.

Visitors see that a whopping 5 people "like" you, or "follow" you... and they'll wonder why it's not higher.

There are two ways to get the fans two you: either the fan profiles are fake, or they use fake profiles to be friended with real people, then they suggest the page to their real friends.

I saw a guy on youtube showing how he uses bots to request friendships with real people then he suggests pages to them.

The way he targets is searching for keywords, similar to targeting ads. So they will search for a word, and request friendships to anyone that this word comes in their profiles, whether in their status updates of info.

buying fans is only to make the fans count looks good, but don't expect interactions. If you really need to build loyal fans, you need to use sweepstakes and such.

I would avoid buying any fans, followers, friends, or whatever term you prefer. Even though it takes work, you want to associate with people who are genuinely interested in you and what you have to say. Value the quality, not quantity. Best wishes to you.

I think it's worth buying fans if your objective is to make your fanpage appear popular, the more popular something is perceived to be the more people will be interested - the 'herd mentality', Also you need 25 FB fans before the fanpage - or 'like page' as it's now known - can be named and buying them is easier than waiting for that number of organic fans to appear.

If on the other hand the objective is to sell to your bought fans, then you are probably wasting your time.

2 main reasons people buy Fans:

#1 To appear more established to other potential fans. It may not be ethical, but it is effective at skipping the thin part of the bell curve to get started getting real fans much faster.

#2 To show misleading 'results' to the customer. I've heard of people padding accounts to appear to their customer that they are doing a good job marketing. Scammers basically!

I want to add this, a company I work for managed to get close to 6,000 fans by using the suggestion features. We were a team of ten. Each has 200 to 500 friends. We decided that each week someone will suggest the page to his friends for one time only.
So after ten weeks the page had +5000 fans. Those are real active people. The problem is, the fans don't know or care what the page is about, they just clicked accept. The result, large impressive number, but the interaction is no more than one or two, which is really embarrassing.

I still think number is important, but I need to weigh number/interactions. I'd rather have 1,000 fans with one or two interactions than 5,000 fans with the same number of interactions.

For me, after visiting tons of pages, the goal is 1,000 fans.

re fiverr, been there, done that. If you are just looking for few tens or even hundreds, just speak with your friends, family and customers, and ask them to suggest the page. There is this code you put in the url field after you click suggest, in order to highlight all your friends.

And if you are serious about targeting fans, Facebook ads are great. Depends on your location, for me it was 50cent per fan without a landing page or sweepstakes. I grow a fan page to 9,000 fans from Facebook ads and the interaction rate is much higher than the company page with +5,000 that we used suggest to friends feature.

Put a landing page with sweepstakes that requires like, then run a small ads campaign.

Exactly. You can go and buy all the fans you want, but it's just like buying friends in real life. They are only being your friend because you paid them to be.

You won't achieve anything by just buying fans. What are you hoping to achieve by doing so? People will like your page if you have something worthy to offer. If you don't, then you won't get any fans and you'll be left asking where you can buy fans from.

So my advice to you is, go and create some good content or a good product people actually want to talk about and like without being paid to do so.

One of my fanpages has over 11,000 fans and whenever I post something, there is a lot of interaction. When your page gets a large number of fans, Facebook gives you an extra feature where you can see below each thing you post to your fans, how many times that item has been displayed (ie the number of impressions), and the number of comments and likes per impression. So for example, a video I posted yesterday has had 9,282 impressions and 1.11% feedback - which is actually quite a good response.

The percentage of people who interact with content on facebook is still quite low. All you need to do is be a fan of some of the biggest bands of Facebook, pages that have millions of fans, and you will see the percentage of people who respond to their posts. It's a lot of people but compared to the total number of fans of that page, the percentage is very low. So 1.11% action on content is actually quite good. Note, that's not the number of people who have watched the video, that's just the number who have then decided to leave or comment or 'like' the video. So the number of people who have watched that video would be significantly higher.

But regardless of that, I have had 9,282 impressions of that content on facebook within 24 hours, and that's free. And when your page is highly targeted and your fans are REAL fans, that a good amount of reach right there - and I can post anything I want whenever I want to.

Like others have said, buying fans is essentially useless. The purpose is to have an audience that you can direct targeted messages that could fulfill a specific need for them, not a bunch of zombie profiles that are inactive or uninterested in what you have to offer.
You could join other fanpages that are similar to your niche, then through discussions, direct them towards your fanpage. Developing relationships and interaction within the community helps build rapport and trust, making your fanpage more valuable.

You may buy fans- but not targeted fans to your niche. Additionally, it is good to buy fans as the more fans you have, the more people will be willing to listen to what you have to offer since you have a lot of fans. So in that regard, its a good benefit.

If you want some fans to make your facebook pages more active, this is OK, you can do with about haft of hour and get more than 200 friends, or you can order some service at Fiverr with $5. It is really fast, but if you require more as promote your company or get some sales, this may be a dream. You need to patient and get target people, design your facebook pages, get more update, and some interesting content. This may free for people, it like instead you pay Facebook $500 for ad, you may make contest with $50 for each month, I think you can get good fans to join in your list. Best wishes.

Facebook allows businesses and other organizations to promote their services with a "Fan Site" for FREE! OK so you may already have a fan site but how can you get people interested in your services without spending massive amounts of marketing dollars? People vote with their feet so by promoting your services to a large number of fans you can generate conversions on your sales for a fraction of the price you might pay with some PPC or affiliate programs.

if you really want to buy facebook fans the best way to do it is through freelancer.

You can find a lot of people seliing these types of services there.

not to mention that the overall transaction is more safe than buying through a website.

Buying Facebook fans will get you social proof in the short-term, that's about it though. Don't expect to monetize that following or get them onto your email list. On a side-note, getting email opt-ins from Facebook is far more valuable than getting "likes."

In a perfect scenario, your fan page should be set-up for both especially if you're using Facebook ads to drive traffic...

Adding fans to a fanpage is a critical step to come by for fanpage admin. If you buy some low quality and unhealthy fans, you page will get now where, no conversion or elses....

I can add fans to any fanpage without admin access that mostly are European fans.

The danger with deals like these is that you get lots of "plastic" fake fans and then when you try to market to them or try to use them for your marketing purposes you end up with nothing. YouTube are beginning to crack down on fake subscribers so beware.

I've purchased FB fanpage "likes" before, and, in fact, the result was around 5,000 people.

I personally don't have a problem with this, and I'll explain why.

First of all, it's a strategy that can boost your fanpage and business.

It doesn't really matter if they're targeted or not, in fact, that wasn't my goal when purchasing the "likes."

Once you have your 5,000 fans, then people will start noticing and acknowledging your popularity and will join in with a "like" and these are the people who are targeted and responsive.

There are a couple of services available on the WF, one of which I used, and they delivered UK, USA and Canadian "likes", and it's done over a period of time and not all at once. Your fanpage won't get banned, and although you'll lose a percentage of the purchased fans, you'll be surprised at how many remain.

Basically, it can be a kick-start for your fanpage and once you've got some numbers, people will notice and follow as well.

I suppose it could be considered a grey hat strategy, but I don't see any difference to buying a service that offers backlinks, it's basically the same thing in my view. In other words, you don't know the administrators of the sites that you've gained a backlink from, nor have you asked their permission, i.e. you pay someone to clandestinely represent your site and basically spam your details to hundreds of sites hoping to gain backlinks to boost your ranking.

Paying for FB "likes" is not too different, and although most will not be targeted or responsive, that's not the point. The point is to show your "real" fans that you are popular, relevant, and likeable.
