I've been doing internet marketing now for a few years and rather shamefully haven't gotten involved in G Awords or conversion tracking.

My quesition:

How can I take a campaign and track what the client does from click through to conversion? How do I track the click on the affiliate link and then report on them converting though to sale?

I understand this can be done but don't know how!!

Please be as descriptive as possible and name any helpful tools you can recommend!

    Look at google analytics for your site over several months. Write down how many unique visitors you had. Look at your clickbank or w/e affiliate analytics for that time period. How many hops did you have? How many sales?

    Hops/Visitors = CTR
    Sales/Hops = Conversion of product
    Sales/Visitors = Total conversion of your site

    Furthermore, if your sites conversion is 1/50, and say your offer pays $35, then every visitor is essentally $35/50 or $.70

      In your AdWords account go to the "reporting and tools" tab > "conversions" > click on the type of action you want to track, click on the "code" tab, and copy the conversion code to a text file.

      Then it's simply a matter of either A. having the vendor manually place this code of his/her thank you page, or using ClickBank's integrated sales tracking feature to place the code yourself from within your CB account.

    You mentioned selling affiliate products, so apart from relying on google adwords reporting a rock solid company which values their affiliates will have systems in place to assist with tracking via the actual affiliate tracking software or by using codes to show conversions tracking for you.

    Try asking the affiliate manger directly or checking their affiliate resources.,
