Hey guys. I'm just doing a little research into Video Marketing and would like your help with some questions. These questions may also benefit you so please if you read this thread, leave a reply.

So I would like to know who here uses Video Marketing right now?

If so, how long have you?
What sort of videos do you use?
Do you outsource your videos or create them yourself?
If you outsource, what do you pay?
Where do you post your videos?
How long are the videos?
What content do you use for your videos?

If you don't yet use Video Marketing, why not?
Is it because you don't know how to create the videos?
Outsourcing costs too much?
What are you willing to pay?

  • I've just begun using video marketing. I meant to for the longest time but just had too many irons in the fire. I've been posting them on YouTube - mine are running from 4-5 minutes, and so far they are mostly how-tos.

It's hard for me to get all the way through one without screwing up so I've been doing a lot of editing with ScreenFlow, but it's working pretty well.

Anxious to hear what others are doing and hopefully learn something.

I've never heard of Screen Flow. Is it a Mac-only package?

  • All I can say is put a picture of boobs on the cover picture and a watermark of your website on your video and you should do just fine with getting noticed.
    • [1] reply
    • That may get you traffic, but I can guarantee you that once they find out the site is not related to boobs, they will be out of there. That's not really what you want from your visitors.

  • Yes I use video marketing, you can get a page one google ranking reasonably quickly by using video and doing a little keyword research.

  • Here are my tips,

Use video and post them to sites such as metacafe, youtube.

    But follow these simple rules.

    1) Make sure you dont bore your audience. I make 4-5 quick points that are going to help them get results for free. Go to forums and see what tthey are talking about and post a video that will help them solve these problems.

    2) Do not make videos more than say 5-6 mins. More than that, and people stop watching and clicking off to find more stuff in google. Trust me on that. I do it too.

    3) When you post, make sure title, and meta tags have your long tail keywords.

    4) make sure to strengthen this SEO you put your keywords into the first few words of your description and the very last few words. This picked up by google quickly. And works a treat....these are some of my secrets, that bring in lost of customers...i have the real hard core secrets....but not going to share them here....as I am still testing them.

do that and you will see lots of traffic, and targeted traffic too. and when you are selling stuff online 5 people that are targeted visiting your site, are way better than 100 people coming to your site not intrested in the topic or your product, and its intentions.

    Cheers

  • What about really short intro videos? Does anyone use those?
    • [1] reply
    • Yes I use those too, especially when creating a digital product. A quick short intro to get them excited so they are eager to watch the other 10 minute videos, lol.
  • What about in sales copy? Does anyone use them in that? What about here in your WSO?
  • I started using video marketing 2 weeks ago and the results have been pretty impressive so far. The videos I use were made by someone in my upline and they are only about 3.5 min long and are how-to instructions. They work great because I don't have to do a lot of explaining. I just point them to the video and answer questions that are not covered.
  • Anybody else have any input? I'd love to know how everyone is using Video Marketing and if you aren't, why not.
  • Video marketing is really cool I'd say. In fact, they are good indication that a product converts for you as the sales are made quicker than article marketing or anything else.

I am yet to try full video marketing, but getting started from 2morrow according to my blueprint.

    Why I wasn't using it?

Trust me, I was too lazy to make any video so I just stuck to writing articles but now I chose internet as a full time income so exploring all areas as a full time marketer.
  • Mike

Are you talking about using Video to attract people to your website? Or are you talking about using Video to convert website visitors to your customers?

    Or both?

    • Thanks for all the input guys and gals.

Both really. I'm just interested in how everyone uses Video to market themselves and their products and/or site.

  • the best thing about video marketing is that you can explain well while you are in the video compared to explaining on text and writings. You can just clarify clearly the message you want to express if you are on the video.
  • Video is a great way to build your brand, get back links and often land first page on Google. IF you are going to use video, I highly suggest using a video submission service. This allows you to post you r video to the service, who in turn will submit it to dozens of video hosting site. There are several services out there, many with free (but limited) subscriptions. My favorite is Traffic Geyser.
  • Hi Mikescos

I have been experimenting with video marketing for the last few months with the last month pretty seriously

I started with slideshow narrations of my articles but as I was not keen on my voice, I switched to slideshows with background music and imagery to set the mood and tell the story. I am happy with my slideshow process, so I am going to try talking head videos next with the emphasis on improving my vocal performance.

I create my own at the moment, however I write every setting and step down such that I could outsource my process if I wanted and could afford to. I use audacity and Sony Movie studio Platinum.

As I got my account suspended by tubemogul thus I post manually to YouTube, Dailymotion, metacafe, Veoh, Flickr (only for videos less than 90 seconds long), Redgage and Squidoo.

They vary from 60 seconds to 5 minutes depending upon the content.

I write my own articles and then rework these into videos.

These video have attracted subscribers and comments so I must be doing something right.
  • I outsource it, if I use it...

fact of the matter is that *generally* depending on the niche
they are not going to want to see a guy with tattoos on his neck/arms and lobes stretched out passed an inch .
  • [DELETED]
  • yes and I use tubemogul,
get most traffic from youtube; good idea to submit your video to the other sites too nonetheless.

It's not enough to just upload a video online. Very easy and it's fun to create the content.

The hardest and most boring part is to backlink the heck out of it. If you don't do that, it sits at position 223+ on Google. That applies to other forms of marketing too, unfortunately.

Backlinks, why hast thou forsaken me??????

  • The only video marketing we have used on our product landing pages are Avatar videos though sitepal. It's worked out great. Hope this helps!

I started using video marketing 6 months ago and it is fantastic. I have been creating videos and have created an offline/online business for small offline businesses. In the past 3 months I have picked up 4 new clients paying $200 a month to have a video created and create traffic. The videos have been a mix of slide shows and interview style (depending on the client)
For the distribution of your videos try TubeMogul or TrafficGeyser. I personally use TrafficGeyser. It has an excellent platform built into it to distribute your content across 24 different video marketing sites and also heaps of article sites, blogs, and social networks to create backlinks.

    I hope this helps you.
  • I have used video for 3 years in all the ways discussed above.

I now make them about 60 seconds long. I'm am mainly going for the click and that is long enough for most people of my attention span.

Simply by being in the form of a video you will rank well as long as you pay close attention to your video title and description. Do not treat these aspects lightly. They make a difference.

  • I just created 100 videos in about 8 hours!

I've used Youtube for a niche about 18 months ago and it has driven in A LOT of traffic. In fact, aside from setting up a website, Youtube was the only marketing I did.

I just started marketing another niche and the video I'll post below only has a few hits on it since I just posted it yesterday, but here are some things I learned from another video campaign that was successful:

    1. Just do it! Don't try to be perfect, get a camera (or whatever you will use and do it). You can always post better videos later.

    2. Youtube is highly advanced now - they look at everything including transcribing your words into text and examining them for keywords, so include your keywords into your video

    3. Short videos are better for many niches - 1-4 minutes

    4. Do your keyword research! I use Google's keyword tool - go to google and type in "google keyword tool" you'll get it. Type in your niche, and see what comes up. I targeted 102 related keywords and created a short video for each. I went for volume.

Each video talks about 1 tip, and of course promotes my website

    5. Name your video file as your keyword - example, if the keyword was dogwalking service name your video dogwalking service

    6. Put your keyword in your title

    7. Put your website http//www.dogwalkingservicesinny.com as the first thing in your desciption. Then load your description with many keyword laden sentences.

    8. Tags - after doing your keyword research you'll know what keywords are popular in your niche.

    9. Get others to comment on your video to get the "juice" going. Have your friends etc comment on your video. Make sure they do it from a different account (separate youtube account) on a different IP address (google knows all!!!)

    10. Make your video thumbnail stand out! I dressed up in a cap and gown (I am a professor) - my thumbnail stands out in the crowd

    11. I added a banner across the whole thing with my website logo. The banner is green and stands out!

    12. Create a Youtube Channel right now!

The point is the get tons of traffic to your videos, then get them to your website squeezepage (or whaterver you do).

I created spreadsheet with each keyword, and the tip I would discuss in each vid. I bought a Kodak ZI8 video cam for 150 bucks (shoots hd quality vids ) and has an external mic so I could hook up an external lapel mic I bought at Radioshak. I also bought a 25 foot cord for the mic. Audio must be good!

I shot 10 videos at a time - pausing between each video. I held up a printed copy of the spreadsheet and pointed to each video so I could have a marker when I edited.

I edited them using Imovie (very easy program). Then I uploaded them to Youtube and had my VA add the tags, description etc. I used to use Tubemogul but they started charging a lot of money. I may try Traffic Geyser??? I figured Youtube was 80% of all vid traffic so I concentrated on Youtube, but will upload to other videos sites soon.

    Hope this helps

    Scott

  • video amrketing is also a great way in obtaining traffic and adding links. in terms fo the video type, you have to think of yoru niche or the type of expert you would like to portray before posting a video. if you want to be known an expert entertainment blogger, you can create a video review with your observations about your chosen shows. if you want to be an expert resource person in doing various things, you just need to show various how to videos as they are the ones that will work best for you.

    • I have never use video marketing as it always seemed too labour intensive and always got in the way of my other efforts, BUT, a few weeks ago I uploaded 2 videos to YouTube - 30 seconds each and absolute rubbish - so bad that I won't even look at them!! absolute crap.

Anyway, today, I was checking on the progress of one of my websites in big G and, both of these totally dire video's are ranking above my main website, which is usually about number 6 on G's first page, for a very competitive keyword !!!!

Well it's all hands to the pumps now for my main sites - can't afford to miss an opportunity like this.

    • I've been having great success with video marketing as Youtube is I believe the 4 largest search engine and videos come up along with organic regular websites.

It does take time to learn the system of creating editing and uploading videos but for many people they can really enhance their internet presence with videos.

Now that I have a system down, I can crank out 10 -20 videos in about hour, edit them in another hour - done. Uploading is easy in Youtube.

I used to use Tubemogul for free but they now want to charge me because of my "commercial" videos.

To get the "google" juice going I outsource and have people around the world comment on my videos - I have people comment on about 40% of my videos - they write down what video it was and what comment they made - simple spreadsheet and I pay them a few bucks. They also rate my videos with the Thumbs UP. And they go to my YOutube channel and make comments. All of this brings up my Google/Youtube stock cheaply and easily.

Even if you had someone hired for a few hundred bucks, they could shoot your videos for you - short ones, 1-4 minutes, chop em up and upload them for you. I found a college student in my hometown to do this for me for CHEAP. He was in video production and loved the opp. to build his resume.

I'm really good at video marketing because I work at it - I am weak in the social media arena and need to start hitting this hard now like many of you have done.

      Just Do It!
  • I don't use video marketing.

Well, occasionally I embed commercials from YouTube related to the product I am promoting. This is pure lazyness but my business is growing fast so no need to change what's working.

I am a full-time affiliate, so I just promote stuff from other businesses, no need to create my own commercials, so that's why I don't use video marketing.
  • I certainly use video marketing, because it allows you to engage your prospect and build the best relationship possible from then on. I believe its the best way to build a relationship because you get to put a face and voice to the name.

    • Video is a powerful way to put yourself out there and build your credibility with your readers/visitors.

It removes the barrier between them and you and builds trust too.

I've used Animoto but found that creating a video with my webcam and Camtasia, then uploading the video to Screencast is a very easy way to get your face out there.

If you're going to create videos, put as many up on YouTube as possible, use keywords for the title and a link to your website at the bottom of the video.

It's also very helpful to put a Facebook Like button on your website as it will build your fan base (i.e. Facebook list).
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I've used video marketing for personal branding/mentoring, such as high ticket marketing. I've only just started using Camtasia, which is great for how to videos. I think it's essential to master it. When you do use it make sure you get the viewer to do something having watched your video. Drive him or her to your site, your product, something that will further develop interest in you.

  • Here is s killer technique to use video marketing to its fullest potential especially if you have some money for outsourcing. Buy youtube videos, buy youtube channels. If you have a great offer then you can use that offer to sell in those videos that you will purchase. Many people have videos on many subjects who are getting 1000 hits plus a DAY and they dont have a link in the description, contact them and see whethert they are willing to put your wesbtie link in their videos for lets say 100 dollers?
