Can anybody explain how they basically do article marketing?

Hello guys,

I was wondering. After you write your articles what do you do basically? How do you get people to your page or affiliate product. Where do you submit your articles? Are you doing any kind of social bookmarking? Any other tips?

Thanks a lot!

I just posted this in another thread, but I might as well post here. Here's a good list of the top article sites to post to.

You are allowed two links per article (in most cases, read their rules) back to your own site. Plus you can link back via your "resource box" which is an "about the author" section of the site.

Make sure to use anchor text for your keyword so you can have a good backlink too.

When you write and submit your article you utilize the resource box to provide links back to your website with the intent of making a sense, generating an adsense click or obtaining a subscriber to your list.

The key is to success follows this path:

1 - Choose the right keyword phrase to target within your article
2 - Create a search engine friendly, visitor compelling article title
3 - Provide quality content within your article body
4 - Create a top notch author's resource box that has your reader craving more info

The anchor text is the clickable text in a hyperlink. The words contained in the anchor text help determine the ranking that the page will receive from the search engines because you are telling the search engines what the page is about.

For Example anchor text for a gas grill could be something like the following:

    <a href=http://mygasgrillwebsite.com>Best Gas Grills</a>

    <a href=http://mygasgrillwebsite.com>Gas Grill Reviews</a>

    <a href=http://mygasgrillwebsite.com>Weber Gas Grills</a>

You change the anchor text based on what you want to tell the search engines about your website.

    Hey MagicAce

Anchor text is fine, but you still need to write a compelling resource box.

Getting people to the point that they want to click through to your site is what you should work on.

What will make them even want to click on that link?

You need to provide them some sort of benefit - what's in it for them if they click through?

I still see people writing about themselves in the resource box. Nobody cares about the author. They want to know more about how you can solve a problem for them.

Writing attention grabbing resource box copy is a skill that takes some time to learn, but you can keep experimenting with different word combinations until you start getting a higher CTR (click through rate).

After you join these sites, get involved in the discussions that interest you. Post your answers and make sure you create a signature for people to see at the bottom of the page.Have a link connected to your signature that takes people to your web site or splash page. What I have found is most people do not understand to create relationships first before trying to sell their wares. Its is all about adding value for people to learn.

I like this list as it differs from the standard article directories and is right up the alley for a new website I have online catering to a home based business opportunity.

When you post your articles on those sites is there a special area like the Warrior Forum offers or are your articles posted in the form of an answer to questions within the respective forums.

I drive most of my traffic through resource boxes.

And as mentioned above, there's an art to writing a good resource box.

And to me, that art is virtually *identical* to the art of writing a good *headline* or *title*.

After all, think: the reason the reader is there, reading your piece in the first place is because he saw a simple string of text (i.e., your headline/title), and found it, on its own, compelling enough to get him to click on over and begin reading what you had to say.

Doesn't that sound an awful lot like what you're hoping to get an article reader to do with your home website as well? Click the link in your resource box and start reading, even though the only thing he's got to go on when he's making the decision about whether to click or not is those few bits of text?

Learn to compel with only a little bit of text, and doors open for you in all sorts of arenas. Emails get opened. Message forum posts get read. Signature files get clicked. Articles get perused. Sales letters get a second look. And yeah, resource boxes get click-throughs.

A personal fave along the lines of learning that craft is Gary Halbert's seminal letter on HL writing. You can check it out for free in the GHL archives.

What we advise our clients is to make the MOST of the article you MUST put your best foot forward. Even though we submit to hundreds of directories, it does comedown to your links.

Make sure the title is appealing enough to make someone click through and read your article.

Keep them wanting to read more and when done, they should want to click your links in your resource box.

If your selling a product make sure that link is in the box as well as another link supporting that product IE your main page.

With that and our submissions it will get the article indexed and with that using your top keywords in the title and body will bring up your article in searches as well.
