How Do You Set Up A Site Using Different IP?

Want to set up some blogs to do some linking back to my money sites. (The blogs have to be on dedicated domain)

What does it mean to set them up on a different IP? Is it the domain registration that needs a different IP?
Can I still use the same host? (hostgator) same account?

How exactly do you set this up?

Thanks,

Evita

    Speak to your host.

Your best bet would be multiple c blocks.

For a windows box all you need to do is go into your network settings and change the IP. For linux I think you need to change the DNS zone records.. the "A name" if im not mistaken... you can do that via WHM

And if you don't know what are you doing then its best you speak to your NOC guys

LOL.. I guess I take too many thing for granted

WHM= the big brother of cpanel and stands for web host manager... if you have a VPS ( virtual private server) or a dedicated server or even a reseller account your host will provide you with this.. its basically a web based interface that lets you do various account/domain management functions

NOC= network operations center.. aka the tech guys

And your right.... DNS Zone settings... I guess I wont even go there

If you use Hostgator you can pay $2 a month (I think) for a separate isp address alternatively use the cblocks and Hostgator through its sister site SEO Hosting has this at a low monthly fee of $4.95 for 5 different isp and other fee structures. If you are not using Hostgator just email support and ask them.

I have a discussion on this very topic on my IM blog. Read the hosting article. I also point you toward a provider that gives you 15 seperate IP addresses for no extra charge.
