Amazon and Australian Sales.

Good afternoon to all you warriors out there today

I have 3 amazon review sites at the moment and am thinking of putting up some posters and maybe doing some fliers in the town I live in directing people to them.

I am just unsure if the commissions would come to me if I get any sales through this method. Being in Australia does anyone know how this works? I am a member of all except china and have an amazon affiliate link localizer on all the blogs to direct people to the site relevant to them.

Would the Aussie commissions go to the US site? and therefore the commission to me.
I know some things don't ship here but most do.

Thanks Sarah

Shipping to Oz from the US might be a bit of a killer?

Perhaps you might think of promoting an affiliate site a little closer to home, 00.com.au maybe, they run a program through ClixGalore you might like to look into.

    Good luck!

    Thanks Lesley,
Yeah I thought about that with the postage but at the moment I am trying to concentrate on just the one affiliate program per site. I will look into the clixgalore ( I think im even a member) during the week and see what I can come up with to target the Aussies

I would still like to know if anyone knows which site my clicks would go to commission wise.
    Thanks Sarah

If someone from Oz clicks through and buys from Amazon.com you will get the commission, as long as your Amazon ID is in the link.

But I'm not quite sure how the localiser works? What does it display to people who aren't from the US or UK? I would presume it displays the US Amazon link to people from the US, but as there is no Amazon.com.au, what does it display to Aussies?

Pretty sure if you have the link localizer that your earnings would just go to your seperate amazon accounts from each country, wherever they live would direct them to the appropriate amazon site.

If you want to get into the offline advertising like flyers, etc, I think there would be some better offers to be using than Amazon - the commissions are fairly low and I imagine you would need to get a ton of fliers out there before you started earning much from it.

If I were you I would look for easier options. Im Australian so I know that Bigpond for example have an affiliate program that pays around $15 per lead. The offer is for 10 FREE DVD Rentals over 30 days and all the person has to do for you to get paid is register for the free offer with their credit card. They can then order 10 DVD's for free and as long as they return them in the reply envelopes they won't get charged a cent.

How easy would that be to close? You could even go door knocking with an offer like that. I'm sure you could close a fair amount of people considering the brand is well known and it's a no risk offer for the customer.

Just a thought... to get you thinking...

Ive thought, what would I do if for some reason I couldnt promote via websites anymore and decided I would probably do newspaper advertising for 1 or 2 products and use a drop shipper, flyers would work too.

Take a look at J.F. Straw's site if you are interested in offline selling.

Thanks so much for the thoughts and suggestions guys. Not sure how to quote properly so:

I put all my amazon ids into the localizer and it sends people the the country which services their area and yeah I get the commissions in the different amazons

WillR thanks for giving me something to think about as far as fliers etc go. Where do I go to sign up for bigpond etc? My cogs are definately turning and thinking about this new idea

    Thanks Sarah

Sarah, you'd have to put an awful lot of fliers out for that to work. As in hundreds of thousands. Why not invest in one of Amazon Affiliate courses right here on the forum. Dan Brock has one - Deadbeat Super Affiliate and here's another I was just looking at in the WSO section - http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...-3-months.html

    cheers, Mal (Aussie in Paris)

Thanks very much for the link WillR. I am off to have a look now.

@Spot The Ball thanks for the info, Not sure if it is exactly what I am looking for though. Not sure about drpshipping and the potential problems to come with handling the customers (complaints, queries etc).

    Thanks Sarah

Sarah as there is no Amazon Au site you will need to promote products from the Amazon.com site. As you said some products are not able to be shipped to Australia but some are.

You will earn commission through Amazon.com and they will pay you commission by check.

I promote products on Amazon but I have to admit I have only ever promoted online so I target a worldwide audience. If you are promoting to people living in your area then you will need to make sure those products are able to be shipped to Australia.

Hey Sarah, nice to see someone else from W.A on here

Amazon is fine but if you are selling specific items, make sure you check what the postage costs are (you might also want to think of becoming an eBay affiliate too since you can focus on products for sale in Australia )

Dont forget, if you are targeting an American audience then you want your site hosted in America, if its an Australian audience then host it in Australia (for seo purposes) but as has been pointed out, the shipping could put a lot of products out of reach for Australia.
