Help! Clickbank Integrated Sales Reporting and Google Analytics

Hi

I've just been looking at Clickbank Integrated Sales repoting and I can't quite suss out if it works for affiliates or if it's just for vendors. In the help center on clickbank it mentions it in the Affiliate section under 'Tracking Your Promotions', so you'd assume it does work for affiliates, However when trying to follow the instructions for using it with Google Analyitics it says you need the product Thankyou page URL, which affiliates don't have access to, so now I'm not sure.

To set it up for Goole Adwords you don't seem to need the Thankyou page URL.

Now I'm confused and can't seem to find much information other than what is on clickbank's help center.

Does anyone know if it's possible to use Integrated Sales Reporting with Google Analytics as an affiliate, and if so has anyone got any experience doing so.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Adam

You can use it as an affiliate. It is working for me. Maybe it works because my vendors have done their part on their sites -- I'm not sure about that. But I'm happy with what I'm seeing.

In analytics, whenever someone views an order form I see a page view for page: /order/orderform.html?vendor=vendorid... etc.

And when someone completes a purchase I see the page:
    /order/ordersuccess.html?vendor=vendorid... etc.

Just set up the tracking in Clickbank with your analytics ID, and then activate it. Don't worry about the thank-you page part. See what kind of tracking shows up for you.

Click on the Account Settings tab near the top, then scroll down on the My Account page to the Integrated Sales Reporting section and click the Edit link on the end of that title bar.

On the Integrated Sales Reporting page, click the green button on the right that says Add Tracking Code.

Select Google Analytics from the dropdown list, then enter your tracking code and click Save. It will show up in the list. Click the green arrow on that row to enable it.

    Great post! Thank you Patey88.

Per the instructions above, I have implemented ClickBank Integrated Sales Reporting with my Google Analytics account and wonder, when viewing within Google Analytics (Content-->Pages) the outbound URL "/order/orderform.html?" how can I tell using this form of tracking the organic keyword that led to this sale? I tried by creating within Google Analytics a "secondary dimension" "keyword" but it shows under the keyword column "not set."

I want to determine what organic keywords and referrers (online marketing) are leading to my clickbank sales.

    Thank you!

kchristian, it sounds like you are doing it right. When the keyword says "not set" it usually means that visitor didn't arrive via search. You can switch to show Source or Source/Medium as a second column instead of keyword, and you'll see what site the visitor came from. If it says direct, it means they came by typing in the URL or clicking a link outside their browser.

Actually, a lot of browsers on mobile devices don't provide the same info as a regular computer. Try showing Mobile Device Info as the second column. If you see some kind of phone or iPad, that could also be why you're not seeing a keyword. You might just see "not set".

You know, I am totally wrong. I forgot, the order pages are always a separate visit from the visit that brought the visitor to your site in the first place. So you can't see the keyword in any simple way.

What I do is look for other identifying fields like city, flash version, screen resolution, mobile device info, service provider, hour of the day, etc. And then I view a whole lot of other reports until I can match the order visitor to an earlier visitor. I have made custom reports that make it easier to drill down and trace this info, but the fact is, it's just difficult.

Sorry I responded without thinking clearly. -- P.
