How Can I Embed VIDEO To My Wordpress Blog?

Hello Everybody !

The last few days I'm working on my FOREX website, using WORDPRESS.
The URL is : ForexNoBrainer . Com

I have TWO MAIN problems in order to make the homepage look exactly as it should :

1. I want to learn how to EMBED VIDEO on the homepage where the image of Wordpress Theme is right now, using this image or any other of my choice as a cover.

2. I want to add an OPT-IN FORM on the right side of the image (VIDEO) with graphics (big arrows) , in a very prominent table, where homepage's text is right now. But I want the OPTIN FORM to remain always there, nomatter how many new posts I make.

I know there are many technically experienced and skillful FORUM MEMBERS who might give me a list of short instructions I can use in order to EMBED the VIDEO , and INCORPORATE my AWEBER OPT-IN FORM on the page.

Sophia,

Is the video already up on Youtube? If it is, YT generates a code that you can just paste into the html section of your post.

If you want the video to appear in a place other than a post, you'll have to paste this code into the sidebar text on your WP theme. You do this in "Edit Theme" I think.

There are some WP experts here that can probably help you with the rest of your questions.

  That's the only video plugin I use on my wordpress blog
  it does everything for you and it is pre-configured...
  
  And it integrates with you wordpress editor...

  I second that! The Viper Video Plugin is awesome!
  
  For your aweber optin, if you want it in the sidebar, just get your optin code from your aweber account, and paste it into a text/html widget in your sidebar.
  
  There are plugins that you can use for that too, but if a simple widget will do what you need, then you're all set.

Hi Sophia,

You can make a post sticky so that it's always on top (all others are posted under it) with this wordpress plugin:
WordPress › WP-Sticky WordPress Plugins

When you write a post the default is for a regular post but if you check "sticky" before publishing it'll make that post stay at the top.

There's absolutely no description of it on the download page but I've got it and it works great - I love it.

That should work well for your optin if you don't want it in the sidebar.

  that's exactly what I need, because the THEME I'm using doesn't appear to have a sidebar. At least, the space I want the OPT-IN FORM in, is right next to the theme's IMAGE, which is the post space.

Hi Sophia,

Glad I could help.

I just took a look at your blog and you're right - the stuff that's usually in the sidebar of most blogs is in the footer of yours.

Since you're wanting to have a video and an optin right at the top then having the sidebar content in the footer like that will make sure there's no distractions from the main focus.

Awesome info so far guys. Thanks. Just downloaded the Viper video plugin and it rocks but everytime I add a video it blends the video with my social bookmarking icons. So the digg icon is over the play button etc etc. I try to click the dimension tab but it doesn't open up.

I may be incorrect but I think that you need to change things in the style.css so that there is room for the video.

If that is the reason, you can use the Firebug addon in Mozilla Firefox to find the exact line in the style sheet that is effecting the positioning and alter the px numbers.

Have you ever considered PodPress ( http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/podpress/ )? I have been using it since they invented it, and it is a wonderful plugin. Although, I have to add that David's suggestion of the Viper Video Plugin is much easier to use and uses less resources. I am just offering an alternative idea based on experience.

  Yep, I use podpress but it doesn't show up as a video on my blog. It shows up a link that you have to click then the video comes up. I speak to a fitness crowd so give me a break lol.
