Does Google accept ugly ads?

I know that ugly ads typically perform better than professionally done ad blocks, but will Google allow ugly ads to be displayed?

I want to upload some image files to their content network to promote one of my sites, but Google loves their quality control, even if it hurts their advertisers. Has anyone had any success using Adwords with ugly ads?

Google is blind. They do not know or care what is ugly.

They still link to my site, and I am very ugly.

    Yay! Go Ugly!

That's a relief actually. It's like walking on eggshells with Google sometimes...or all the time.

don't be afraid of them. Well, if your only market is bizop and MMO then you are allowed to be afraid

They are smart. They know that ugly ads can perform just as well, if not better, than the pretty ads. You only need to look at the ads that their banner generator creates for you - they are fugly. All they care about is the amount of clicks your banner ad gets.

The best thing to do is read their policies and make sure your ads all adhere to their guidelines.

They will disapprove ads with no real reasoning ad refer you there if you ever get someone to respond to you when you ask for clarification.

I consider my ads to be ugly and yes they are very effective.

The ones that pull the best are the animated ones for me.

Google's Display Network is driven by CTR's. More clicks means more revenue for them and they have plenty of data that tells them what works.

If it is going to make them more money, they will approve it as long as it follows their rules.

Yes you can create ads as you want but it's always advisable to create professional looking ads that attract visitors.

No, that's not true. I just wish marketing was this easy. Marketing is a science, and making bold generalizations like this is dangerous.. This all depends on the market, audience and so on.
