The Best List Building Strategies?

We have been testing different list building strategies and wondered if anyone had any suggestions on what tactics have been working for them?

    Make a series of reports, write some articles about the reports, shoot the articles out to directories and capture the traffic.

    Or take this series of reports and give them away free and then use something like the $7 dollar secrets script you let people resell them and keep 100% of the profits while you capture e-mails through the sales process.

    Create a report then take out an advertisement in a forum or in someone's e-zine and offer the report for free. Of course exchanging the download link for their e-mail address.

    Kim Roach has a great "what if" scenario in her Traffic Dashboard product. The "what if" she used was starting from scratch with only her brain and $500. She lays it all out to get a thousand people on the list in 30 days.
