Wanting to know if others have tried paid advertising. What I'm talking about is going to the sites that are in the 1st or 2nd position on Google for a highly searched keyword and buying advertising with that site.

I'm looking at a site that shows 10,000 hits a day or maybe it's a month, can't tell. A 300 X 200 ad at the top of the page runs about $300.

Any thoughts?

Paid advertising can work great, that amount seems excessive though.

You still need to think about "targeted traffic" that's relevant to your offers though.

Be careful about just paying for space on some random busy site and hoping the traffic you get will convert.

You really need to test it.

$300 is not a lot of money if the ROI is decent or even a break even where you get some back end action.

A lot depends on how long a period of time the $300 buys as well as the number of impressions.

Problem with paid advertising is that it takes a big chunk of your gross profit. I use very little paid advertising, and still make a lot of money..

If the site gets 10,000 hits a month and is very targeted to your niche, then it could well be worth paying that amount but ensure that you have a good conversion rate or lead capturing system.

Ideally when you do paid advertising you should try and captcher any prospects email address.

Have you tried any other forms of advertising yet and got results?

Also, have you contacted the site owner directly or gone through another company? Could be cheaper contacting directly.

What are you basing this on? I've had the complete opposite experience.

The nice thing about paid traffic is the instant results. Even if you don't profit right away, you will have some numbers to work with. and remember, always set a daily budget.

Paid advertising has been proven very effective but may require huge start-up money and you can't be quite sure that ROI will be achieved as soon as possible.

Ask for a test run (a week or so for $100), then you will see how is it working out

A friend of mine does it and he makes a lot of money. I don't have the stomach for throwing around hundreds or thousands of dollars testing different sites.

yes. the sites can give you the result that you want since they are high traffic pages but it's still important to take note that other factors will also play a factor and of course finding the best site where you can advertise for your target market.
