Go Where YOUR Prospects Hang Out (It May Not Be Here)!

The Warrior Forum rocks, we all know that. But, at the risk of a banning, you need to spend a lot less time here if this isn't where your prospects hang out. Sorry, but someone has to tell you the hard truths.

Look, no matter what you're into as you try to make money online, it's a really big Web! There are forums and Facebook groups and the like for just about any interest. That's where your prospects are! GO GET TO KNOW THEM THERE.

I hang out at the Warrior Forum for more than just the sparkling conversation and beautiful women. My niche is IM. My customers live here. Know what I mean?

So, whatever you're into - go Google everything you can think of that might open up some new paths to websites where the people you want to buy what you're selling already hang out. Get to know them. Participate. It's easy. And it's the kind of time investment that pays you back in spades.

Go on now. We'll miss you, but it's for your own good. Tough love!

John

    Bingo.

People forget this. Not only do people want to buy from a person, not a company, they want that person to be one of them.

This is not just about being online, either. Get out of the house and go meet your customers in the Real World. If you're selling an ebook on "how to wax your classic car," and there's a car show in your area this weekend, get your arse out to that show and say hi to the people who own classic cars. In fact, get out there early, and offer free help and advice to anyone and everyone you see waxing a classic car.

This will go farther than just about any endorsement or certification you can possibly have. Credibility is a lot more about getting out there and getting face time than it is about actually proving anything.

Yep, it's very powerful when your prospects think of you as like-minded and into the same things they're into. It's so easy to either never understand that or to underestimate its importance in doing business, online or offline.

        John,

You have put your finger on the #1 reason why people foolishly give up on networking, whether online or offline.

They complain that networking doesn't bring them business, and the reason is that they have been networking with their peers instead of with their customers.

        Great point.

I hang out here for the sparkling women and the beautiful conversation, but i get your drift John. I watch the FNC! (Fox News Channel) every night to get lots of good information, and have great results using that to open up new paths.

I know you mean this post with the best intentions, but I don't agree entirely.

You're basically saying... "stop spending time on the warrior forum unless you sell Internet marketing products."

I know, that's not what you said but in black and white terms its how it comes across.

A lot - probably most of - WF members aren't in the MMO market and we come here to learn and discuss about the money side of things and Internet marketing. I don't want to be hanging around my prospects right now, I want to be here.

I'm glad you brought this up, because I actually agree. This forum is hands down the best place to learn how to PLY your wares or services. Absolutely a valid point!

I just meant that you shouldn't hang out here. I consider that a different kettle of fish vs. learning here and then applying that education to improve your results. We all have just 24 hours in a day. I think way too many folks spend too much of that time in here essentially kicking back when they could be spending that precious time in forums or other venues where the people they want to sell to hang out.

So thanks for your valid criticism and a chance to clarify!

        John,

You're right, although to be honest these same people that are here simply to procrastinate likely shouldn't be "hanging out" anywhere. They should be focusing on the important things with leverage... recruiting affiliates, setting up PPC campaigns, implementing an SEO strategy... etc etc.

I'd also say hanging out here and procrastinating can be two different things.

    Great advice.

I've just joined LinkedIn and I'm off to spend some time there after I leave here.

Zeus does that mean you hang out at a god only forum?

    Lol

Kidding aside, great advice. When i was starting off i used to have goals and checkpoints before i could come to warrior forum. It started off at $100 and i has to shrink it down because i was away from the forum for a whole 30 days lol. It eventually shrunk down to $10 but still it was a great motivation.

I think i need to start doing that again

But but but... it's so much fun to hang out here, why would I want to leave?

J/K You're right on John. You need to be where your customers are. WF plays a role for all of us learning our trades, or if you are in the IM market, but there are definately better places if IM is not your target market. Get to where your customers are, and get the cash
