What do you do when you are snowed in?

Couldn't welcome the snow more although downside is my car has been abandoned somewhere and don't know when I can reach it!! ah!!
Best part, time off work, kids at home, time to do some serious IM work and catch up with all the threads here on WF!

Some sites need to be completed and can achieve this in the next couple days when the world is at a stand still for me here! Nice!!

As the old saying goes every misfortune is a blessing.... I am utilising this time for IM and nothing else!

Make sure to take 5 minutes off for a sneak snowball attack on the kids!

As for what I do... grab a book, a drink, kick back and relax.

I didn't have any snow days while I stayed in the Philippines, instead we had the regular, almost-weekly brown-outs with no power for 12h+ and although frustrating at first, I learned to take it easy and not get too serious about business then. I'd just walk out of my studio and enjoy spending the day sitting on the sidewalk, drinking a beer, playing with the kids from the street, chatting with the parents, cooking with the neighbors, etc...

Life is what happens while you're making other plans (aka slaving away at work or business).

I would do the same things I do everyday. As it is, I hardly leave the house, except to go get groceries and to take kids to and from school.

That sounds like my life in a nutshell

If I were snowed in, and I'm not - yet - I would make sure that there were at least two large jugs of emergency water to hand (already done it - sad!) that could be used to make coffee if the pipes froze. Coffee fuels masses of IMer's the world over, including this one, and it's vital to keep the supplies coming if the wheels of online commerce are to keep turning

I had that last year when it snowed. Abandoned my car on a motorway and had to walk 8 miles home! Thankfully there were a few pubs and drink shops along the way so I made the most of it. Only about an inch of snow here, you're in Surrey, didn't know you got so much there.

Personally I actually like working when I'm snowed in (only ever happenned once, last year), bit like working at night, very little to distract you or tempt me to go outside. Its summer I struggle, I'm forever wanting to go out and enjoy the weather.

we have about 10 ins of snow and more falling! Car is about 30 mins walk from the house, not so bad, but problem was I was with my younger one who was a bit poorly and refused to walk so had to carry her, older one was with the childminder 45 mins away, she got home safely when they offered to walk her home. and i forgot to mention in the midst of everything i unknowingly had dropped my phone which is my life! a good samaritan found it in the snow (hard not to think there are still some good people out there!) gave his details to a friend who had tried to reach me on my phone. as it turned out he was about 15 mins walk from me and one of my neighbours went round to collect it for me! happy ending to a dreadfrul snowy day!

I'm in the same boat, Yorkshire, UK is terrible at the moment, can't get the car out so it's a 12 hour IM shift for me today! Not that that's a bad thing, after all it's very enjoyable if a little stressful at times but, hey, that means I'm alive eh?!

      You jammy git!

There's hardly any here. Mind you it hasn't stopped everyone driving like there's sheet ice on the road. The roads are dry and I was behind someone doing 10mph today, breaking at curves in the road. I might make a "how to drive in the snow" manual.

    Lovin the snow!!!

I actually like it when things come to a standstill - keeps things nice and calm... ;-)

Don't mind if the Midlands is covered all week.

In a further attempt to keep this on topic I'd also suggest that now would be a good time to get out the digicam and take snaps of snow-covered trees etc for those winter sports or Christmas promotions, or even of pictures of burst and frozen pipes for home insurance sites. The majority of the UK does not get snow often enough for such opportunities

I wouldn't exactly call it "snowed in", but this is what it's like where I am (excuse dodgy pics - all I have at the moment is the camera built into my laptop lid):

(And as for what I do? Why, take photos and be happy I don't have to commute to/from work, of course! )

I wish I was snowed in here in nyc. Its dec and still nothing down here by the city. Snow is nice and everything just seems to nice and clean when you walk outside early and see all the untouched snow.

      Yep - another Yorkshirteman here....

      Totally snowed in!
Even our main roads are pretty dodgy to drive on (Which always makes me laugh when the council say they have gritted the main roads..... How are we supposed to get our cars off the side roads to even access the main ones...lol)

But yeah - our main roads are pretty poor too just now,

      As for what to do:
Walk to the shops - 5 mins
Walk round to see my girl - 20 mins
Walk to my pc to work - 30seconds

          Hi Abbie.

The photo's need to be hosted somewhere. Be it Flickr, photoshop etc or even easier, just upload it to a blank page on your blog or website and then enter the image location of the photo.

I don't think there is an attachment option. If I got that all wrong it's because I'm an avid technophobe.

Is it just me or does this feel like a continuation of last winter?!

I'd rather be warm and dry than cold and wet. Never did understand the attraction of skiing.

    Here's our car park today:

I enjoy a nice (cold? lol) beer and a warm fire when I'm snowed in. I grab my laptop and just enjoy myself. Although I will say I'm far more productive when I can go outside for a quick break and just relax my thoughts. Being couped up in a house for long periods of time kills me.
