Questions about ebooks

Hey everyone, I want to write an eBook but don't have any experience doing so.

Looking for advice from members who have successfully written/sold ebooks.

1) How do I choose topics? I want something with broad appeal.

2) How long should it be ?

3) What platform should I use to sell? Paypal ? Authorize.net ?

Looking forward to your insights & responses!

Dan

PS: after some research,

I am looking at Paypal for payment and E-Junkie for delivery-- who do you use?

I use wordpress profits system plugin to take the money(paypal) and delivery comes from your site if your using wordpress.
not an endorsement just works well for me and it's pretty cheap

"wordpress profits system plugin" works well, but you can hire a freelancer, to make for you a good looking salles page, then you just add the "buy now " button from PayPal, and that's all...
Drive traffic and make money .
    Cheers

Thats true but you still have to have a delivery system in place, and wordpress profits system does that and makes a "ghost" D/L link that goes away after a certain time so people of low morals don't steal your stuff or the D/L link ends up on delicio.us. I used to use SmartDD but that guy won't/don't support it, so save your $$$

Why would you want to write a book about something that you don't know anything about? People in that niche will know right away that you don't know what you're talking about and they won't get it. Every niche has their own language and if you don't speak it fluently, they know you're not from around there.

For your first eBook it's probably best to write it on something you are passionate about or at least have some knowledge about. I wrote my detox recipe book and detox ebook because I have a lot of experience and knowledge in that area.

You will probably find it harder to sell if you choose a topic with too broad an appeal. It's best to really narrow down your target market.

My main ebook is 160 pages long but that is probably too long. Once I got going I couldn't stop! I have bought ebooks with 75 pages. If you can get your information into fewer that's fine. You just don't want to short change your customers.

If you add bonus books make sure they are related to the main topic and could be sold on their own.

I have used Clickbank as my payment processor but I have used Paypal on another product.

    Good luck with it.
