Hosting in UK NEED HELP ASAP!!!!

We're a web design company and we host our clients websites as well so we can offer an all in one service. We're with UK2.net but they are an absolute nightmare so we need some advice for somewhere to go. We need about 4GB of Ram on a direct server. We have about £200 a month to spend.

We've been speaking with UKFast and are looking to go with them as Rackspace are too expensive. Anyone have any comments? Really naive with regards to hosting it would seem. Really would value help - only want a UK based server.

    I found the following thread that may be helpful to you.

    Also, while not a UK based host, hostgator is great and they have cheap plans.
    Are you 100% sure that Rackspace doesn't have a plan to fit your needs? If you haven't already I'd call up Rackspace and tell them what your budget is, they might have something. We use Rackspace and I can't say enough good things about them. While they may be a bit more expensive than other hosts, the extra cost pays off by FAR in the long run. They have phone support and very knowledgeable and helpful techs. This in itself is worth the extra cost in my opinion. Not to mention the time saved.

    I'm in the US but have been giving my business to EZPZ - who are a UK Co. but UK and US-based. I just love those guys. Great service, super fast servers.

      I also have to agree with EZPZ - They have always provided me great service and support in the past. Huge uptime, no hassles at all.

      Honestly, for their price and value, you cannot beat them at all.

    Rackspace cheapest deal was £350 - £200 is pushing it for us.

    What has been your up time like with Rackspace?

    Does anyone know anything about UK Fast? They say they host for Barclays and Kellogs among others.

    I've been with tech-hosts.co.uk for about 3 months now. UK based and superb customer service. Can't recommend them highly enough.

    I've been using a UK dedicated server with Hostnine.com, I moved from Hostgator to them and I haven't regretted it. They are extremely good value for money. They do a 4GB RAM UK dedicated server for $199 per month.

    I'm currently with UK2.net and am also looking to switch.

    Somewhere on this forum, Maddi Mutaza recommended a company called d9 Hosting in Essex which is apparently run by internet marketers -- so they might be the guys that I go with.....

      Try one.com, I dont know whether they are based in the uk but they have a great offer you get 1 years hosting and a free domain for £10 it works out at £11 odd with vat.

      I have used them before, they have no fancy features like fantastico installer or the like, but then again I have installed wordpress and have used serif webplus to build sites and have had no problem using either with them.

            Hi Guys

            I'm in the UK and for my offline business I use oneandone.co.uk
            It must be the .co.uk version. Their uptime and reliability is fantastic. They are always a bit behind with new toys and stuff but are very solid. I use them for the few clients I have and it is smooth and trouble free.

            I would never use HG for a real business. I would never risk my clients with them.

            My experience with them was so bad you don't want to know. I know this goes against the flow here but I just speak as I have found.

              I was a web developer in a previous life so i've worked with quite a lot of the UK hosting companies.

              The best customer service I have found is VidaHost.com - don't be fooled by the .com - it's a UK based company.

              I've never had the need for a dedicated server so I don't really know how cost effective they are for the service you require - but the standard hosting packages they offer are good value and the service is second to none. You should give them consideration.

    I've been using Fasthosts for over 10 years now as a reseller. Thats £50 p/m.

    Totally depends on what you're looking for but I've just had a look at their site and you can 'pick up' a dedicated server with 4GB of RAM for about £40+VAT. I think its a bog-stndard installation but it may just do.

    They aren't the cheapest but what I've found with FH is their customer support and the speed of their servers are incredible.

    Many years ago I used to send them support requests at silly hours of the morning and used to get replies pretty quickly.

    Might be worth taking a look at.

    I also use iPage who are quite cheap but I wouldn't recommend them for client sites.

    We went with UK fast £249 a month!! Eeek but we are a growing web design company and we cant afford to have our clients sites go down especially with them spending so much on Ad Words. Wish us luck!!!
