How much do you spend on websites monthly?

It seems that most IMs run a bunch of websites at the same time. So how many websites do you run on average any month and how much do you spend on it.

If I was to run five websites this is what my breakdown would be.

$20 for buying a five domain names since most of them will be .info domains. Is there any downside to .info?

$30 every month for web hosting. This is because I will be buying for it month to month per website instead of making a big down payment. Also, I think having different domains instead of add-on domains is better. What do the experts think?

What about web hosting companies that offer just a few GB of disk space and download and none of the "unlimited" features? are they just being more honest or do the "unlimited" features really matter once your site reaches X number of visitors.

Well, just from what you're saying you're looking at spending waaay too much on everything.

I have over 500 sites and manage to keep hosting under $300/month. That's a feat but can be done if you're getting good deals, being strategic, etc. Also, to answer your question, No - "unlimited" doesn't mean "unlimited" but I wouldn't worry about that starting out unless you're going to throw up a huge forum or start building 30k page autoblogs.

Also, don't pay $4 for a .info domain. If you buy them 6+ at a time at GoDaddy, they're always $0.99. bulk discount.

I don't use .info's for "important sites" but you'll get different opinions on that. If you're budget holds you to these, go for it.

I've run as many as 20 sites on one shared hosting account with now problem. It all depends on what you are doing with the sites. With a basic website, it doesn't take up that many resources.

More recently, as I've really started growing my business, hostgator contacting me letting me know that one of my domains was taking up too many resources and they went into all kinds of tech jargon about why they had to shut me down. I made some minor changes and they reactivated my domain. I'll be upgrading to VPS this weekend.

So yes, it does reach a point to where they start getting concerned. My recommendation would be to start with shared hosting with unlimited domains (doesn't have to cost $30), and as you start reaching your the higher end of your limit, start looking at upgrading. There's no use spending more than you need to, especially if you are just starting.

Reseller hosting - separate cpanels for each site and one WebHostManager (WHM) screen where you can manage all sites. You can start with HG smallest plan at $25/month and as you need it can upgrade to more more space or add a second reseller account.

      I don't buy info's - but that's just me.

Ditto. Except instead of a reseller account, I have a VPS with WHM. I like keeping everything separated with their own cPanels. I pay about $50/mo for a fully managed VPS and it will take me a long time to run out of room/resources.

I also stick with .com or .net domains. I've never really thought about the pros/cons of going with an .info.
