I need a payment gateway for a firearms-related site...

I've come into a little problem - I'm working on a firearms review site, and am working to monetize it. Normally I would just use PayPal, but it is well-known in the firearms community that PayPal will simply seize your account if they find out you have content related to firearms on your site.

After looking around, I'm discovering that it is very difficult to get payment processing for this. I've checked the following, and my content is prohibited in them all
  • PayPal
  • Google Checkout
  • 2CO
  • Authorize.net
The *only* provider I've found that will work is GPal (formerly GunPal), and they seem to be currently involved in some difficulty paying out customer accounts.

I've noticed that along with weapons, pornography is usually listed as prohibited - so I suspect if I can figure out who pornographers use for processing, I'll be on the right track.

Does anyone have suggestions for this? All I need is a payment processor with a web payments API that will allow firearms-related content.

Check out AlertPay -- they're very similar to PayPal, but their requirements aren't as strict. We've been using them for a short while now and they seem all right so far.

I have no idea whether they'll allow your site, but it's worth a look.

This is looking the most promising. $1,250 up-front sucks, but is doable depending on how exactly I monetize.

Maybe that's not the complete amount, then. I certainly don't like that they hide the transaction fee behind a registration wall, so maybe they're hiding an additional sign-up fee that I don't know about.

$20k isn't doable for this site, but it would be if I started a merchant transaction company, along the lines of PayPal and the rest. After dealing with all of this, the thought has crossed my mind.

You could also try Payment Alliance. Their web site does not mention Payment gateway. You have to call customer support.

Payment Alliance is the preferred payment provider for the NRA.
