There are sooo many networks, where is a good place to start right away? I have clickbank and cj and most others won't accept me. Where are you guys having success and with what type of product cps, cpa?

This isn't from personal experience, but I've heard that people are most successful with CPA.

I keep hearing how CPA is a lot easier to make a killing with. If you can sell a clickbank product, then CPA will be a joke for you (apparently). The only initial barrier is getting accepted into a good CPA network.

Neverblue is a great CPA network to start with. However, if you don't have any experience, you will have to BS your way in a little.

No matter where you start, you are going to require at least the basics in internet marketing. I suggest choosing a Clickbank product and building various campaigns with it. At the very least you will gain some experience, even if you ROI is not great.

    Hey Brad,

I'm guessing you know that Clickbank and CJ are two of the top affiliate networks around.

So...why not give one of them a try and focus your efforts and time on ONE network rather than looking for more networks in order to just get started?

I understand that you want to find the PERFECT network but the funny thing is there isn't one. So why not pick one and just START.

Like General George S. Patton once said, "A good plan violently executed right now is far better than a perfect plan executed next week."

This is so true and I have been implementing that in my business as of late.

In any case, it's great that you're thinking about Affiliate Marketing. And from my experience Clickbank has been awesome.

I recommend you give Clickbank a try and promote a product using your own website, mailing lists you have built up (if you have a list), ebooks, blogs, video blogs, forums, PPC advertising, local media advertising, or custom software.

Become an affiliate on Clickbank and focus on just that for at least a month to see some results.

After your first month, look at your results and see if you were satisfied or not, and THEN decide on another network.

    Hope this helps.

I agree with what you said and thats what i'm going to do. But what to promote is a big deal. Some say pick what interests you. I have also heard it is just as easy to make with a $100 product as it is a $10 product and to go where the competition is because thats where the money is. I am interested in making money online as an affiliate and promoting those type of products and building a list but I am worried that the market is so saturated and competitive that I won't be able to rank or get traffic. Any thoughts/ recommendation for products? I know this question is asked all the time...

Let me just say that it's great to follow your passion and do what interests you. BUT when the market your passion is in has no competition and therefore very few or no one promoting any products within your chosen niche then it will be very hard to make money.

If this is your case, I would go where the competition is because as you've heard

And super affiliates like Jeff Johnson and Anik Singal have based their ENTIRE businesses/online empires on this strategy alone.

But in regards to your response...

don't worry about ranking or SEO. It is a vast topic and one that it is a little complex to understand for most newbies. Therefore, just focus on getting free traffic by doing this:

        1. Forum marketing - if your niche is "internet marketing" then here at the Warrior Forum is where you should be 24/7, 365 days a year! Just be active, positive, and provide value in all your responses and questions. Oddly enough this will get people clicking your signature link, singing up to your opt-in page, and eventually purchasing your affiliate product.

        2. Article marketing - Just focus on submitting ONE article a day to Ezinearticles.com FIRST, wait for it to be approved, and then submit that same article (with a little rephrasing to avoid having Google think it's duplicate content, which will bring your search engine rankings lower) to goarticles and articlesbase.

        3. Blog commenting - Go on the TOP blogs in your niche and be the FIRST to comment on a blog post, making sure your comment is valuable and contributes to the post.

Just focus on these three for now and master them. Be consistent and persistent. And DON'T GIVE UP!

Within a couple weeks you should have a decent number of subscribers on your list to market to and you may even produce some sales.

      1. choose a niche
      2. do a keyword research in it (through Market Samurai)

      4. get informed about the subject and write a freebie to build your list
      5. write several articles discussing various topics in your niche

      drive traffic through:

You may also want to consider adding Rapbank to your mix -- you'll get instant commissions there if you make a sale (One thing though...

Since they pay 100% of the sale at a time, this means that if commissions are 50%, you will take turns with the product owner when it comes to getting the money.

      Still...

Drawback -- less "intelligence" on the products than is available from Clickbank. Be sure to check them out so you'll know they're good ones.

It seems to be a common misconception among newbies that competition is a bad thing, when on the contrary it is actually good because it indicates that there are actually profits to be made.

Don't worry about ranking through SEO at first, because there are so many other ways to get traffic, some of which are mentioned above. I'd rather pick a popular product instead of something from an obscure niche where the competition is really low, but there is no market for it.

If you're starting out and money is tight, article writing is one of the best ways to drive traffic if you implement it consistently. I'd also focus on a social media campaign using Twitter and Facebook, and you also want to drive your traffic to a squeeze/opt-in page so that you're building a list from the very start.

I totally agree Paulie. When I first started in IM I felt going where the competition is may be very difficult and hard to make money. But, from what I've learned and experienced, competition (like seeing PPC ads on Google for a particular market or product) is one of the BEST indicators that money is actually being made.

And also, I've gained and am continuing to gain an abundance mentality. I feel there's a ton of opportunity out there for people to take advantage of and make good money. So, with this abundance mentality I've learned it's much better and more profitable to get a "small piece of a BIG pie" rather than getting a "large piece of a small pie."

Just my 2 cents on what I've learned from my personal experiences.

I have heard this many times as well. So many people are promoting stuff on "how to become and affiliate", "how to make money online", and I am thinking of promoting in the same direction. Is this a good Idea to get a piece of the BIG Pie?

I think this this is a great idea and a very lucrative one, as almost every one of the most successful marketers online got their start with affiliate marketing.

It is a proven business model and one that has been proven to work time and time again.

In terms of "how to make money online" niche it is a BIG niche and has unbelievable profit potential. But now there is so much competition.

You must find a way to enter this niche from what Mike Filsaime and Chris Farrell call a "side door" in order to grab attention and claim your space within this highly competitive niche.

And equally as important, as you know there are more scams and bull**** products in this niche that it is sickening and totally disheartening.

Therefore, if you're a person who honestly wants to make money by helping people and enrichening their lives then you'll have to find products that provide value and that work.

So that means if you're a product owner you would have to know that your product works and can help people get the results they want. If you're an affiliate you would have to buy the product or ask the vendor for a free copy to review it, try it out yourself, and give an honest review to those that look to you for help and guidance.

In any case, whatever niche you decide to go into I say JUST DO IT and FAIL Forward Fast! Because it's only through our mistakes and experiences that we learn and actually see REAL results!

I'd say get started with ClickBank. It's a great network with lots of offers to choose from.

Yes, there is a lot of money being made in CPA, but what many people on the outside don't know is that only a fraction of the offers pass the "I could show this to my grandma" test.

If you take pride in what you promote, you'll have to sift through a lot of chaff if you go the CPA route.

I chose amazon and will stick to that for a while. Amazon has such wide variety of products that its hard to go wrong as an amazon affiliate. Many of the products on Amazon are products you would use yourself, so its easy to genuinely promote a product which you KNOW really works or is really good.

And if you did not personally use the product, there are often LOTS of reviews from REAL LIFE customers so you know in advance if the product will sell/convert well or not.

This amazon strategy/approach appeals to me, so that's the one I will stick with in 2011.

I reckon you should stick with clickbank and Be successful at it. Learn as much as you can, before moving on to other programmes. Clickbank have a good variety of products to promote.
As long as you have a website that is attractive.

Have an optin form to collect emails.

Know how to attract customers to your website to purchase a free gift such as an ebook.

Signed up to Aweber to see the statistics of customers.

Then send these customers the clickbank product with your affiliate link. You just never know who could be interested in purchasing the product.
