Wordpress Blogging Question

On my website I have the blog, where my posts go on my main page.

My question is can I have another page where I can publish different posts? Sort of like a category, but it's not a category page it's an actual page and the posts only appear on this page and not the homepage.

Alternatively, is there a way to write content on a page as 'snippets' with a ..read more link without using posts? I ask this because I've just realised the amount of content I want to include on this page is fairly high and I don't want it looking cluttered with people having to scroll down miles to find the exact content their looking for.

Thanks,

Matt

Yes, you can achieve that with some php mods. Basically you'd start a new category and "exclude" that from "the loop" on your index. Then, you'd make a new page template (from an existing one) that only "loops" through one category.

If you're going to do this yourself, I'd suggest jumping into the Programming Talk section of this site...if you aren't sure of the details.

There's a cool plugin for this, but it might not be as elegant as you're describing. It will just post all of the titles of a selected category on a page. It's called "List Category Posts".

    Hi,
Last week i found a plugin that maybe is what you where looking for:
It is called "cbnet Different Posts Per Page"
Just go to Plugins in your Admin Panel/Add New, and type "cbnet Different Posts Per Page" without "" in the search box.

And try it, maybe is what you are looking... remember to search for every single thing you need for your Wordpress blog in there, you will be impressed.

    Ciao

With Wordpress you're either dealing with Pages or Posts, but it's easy to have a post excerpt on your home page that links to the full text of the post with the Read More tag
