Amazon Marketers Question

Hi folks,
Just a quick question to anyone that has done Amazon marketing.

What do you find your products convert at on average?

When I say convert, I mean how many sales per customer visit to your site.

I know it would obviously depend on the product, price etc, but I know with Clickbank digital products you can expect anywhere from 1-3% if you're lucky, even though some marketers claim their product converts at 10%.

I was wondering what the trend is with physical products such as Amazon products.

Thanks

I'm sure it makes a big difference if you are sending traffic from a product review or just traffic from the product description (same as you can find on the site). Since I am too lazy to do a proper review for most of my sites, my average is about 1%.

Currently around 8% for me. Of course it all depends on the keywords you choose and how targeted your traffic is.

As others have said there are several factors that come into play here but I'm averaging about 5-6% depending on the niche and target product.

    Good luck!

Amazon converts between 7 and 9% of the customers I sent to them for the last 6 months already. You'd be hard pressed to find conversions this high anywhere else and that's also the reason why I'd settle for a lower commission percentage than I can get from Clickbank.

      Cheers

    My last months Amazon statistics:-

    Ordered items 92
    Clicks 4114
    Conversion 2.24%

I don't earn a great deal of money from Amazon, but it all helps.

Is it safe to say that you earned between 100-600$ with your 92 items ordered?

I just started about two weeks ago, so no real track record as yet. I am curious to see how well it will convert for me though. I try to combine product descriptions with a review as well as target specific product keywords that are more prone to "buy". I also try to target products that have lots of positive reviews. I am curious to see what my conversions will be like after the first 30 days, but for now its too soon to tell.

From the conversions mentioned above, i am convinced that Amazon is a good strategy though. So even if my conversions are below average for the first few months, I'll stick with it for a while and see if I can get to the 5%+ conversion rates mentioned above!

I'm sitting at about 4.14% conversions for all of 2010. That's across about 145 sites in probably about 50 different niches.

      Thats great Zeus!

Hell....I'd take 3% (prefer more obviously) if I had 145 sites raking it in.

I dont really focus on my Amazon sites as much as I should, guess I need to step up my efforts

Just wondering why your referral rate is 6.50% and not 7% given that more then 14 times have been shipped?

You have to have 101 items shipped in a month for it to raise to 7%.

My conversion rate for November was a little over 7% but for the past weeek it has been at around 8% - which I am sure is due to Christmas time.

He needs to ship 14 more items to get to 7%. Not refer 14 referrels to get 7%.

Still, for that many items it should be 7%.

Dang! 17.39% conversion rate. That's awesome!

Congrats to you. This is my first holiday season promoting Amazon and now I see why marketers make such a fuss about this time of year.

Simple WP sites. This one I threw up in 20 minutes. Had the domain for awhile, put it up last month, use a squidoo utility tool to add amazon and copy some info from amazon.

I use long tails , and have a bunch of micro niche sites. Have not done seo really on this one, except indexing the site using Stephen Hawkings free indexer tool from war room.

Just checked it through SEOserp which shows you your page ranking for the keyword used from 1 to a 1000 position:

Now is finding keyword ( small wireless speakers ) Searching SERPs from 1 to 100 pages.
with key URL : ( smallwirelessspeakers.com/ ) search engine results page ranking

      5 : http://smallwirelessspeakers.com/
      6 : http://smallwirelessspeakers.com/29/
      7 : http://smallwirelessspeakers.com/surround-sound-basics/
      8 : http://smallwirelessspeakers.com/introduction-to-bluetooth-technology-used-with-small-wireless-speakers/

So I guess its micro niching, longtail keyword, I use a .info they rank fine. Done. Just picked up another script here in a wso that the pages are starting to rank already and heck they are 5 minutes to do.

And I started using another free tool to get things indexed. It creates up to 2500 directory links, pings them. Sometimes it hangs up on 1599 but its sweet for new sites, helps.

Here is that link - http://www.imtalk.org/cmps_index.php...site-Submitter

Im hovering between 5-6% for everyone who clicks through.

Remember, your Amazon account might say 2% on the main page but on closer inspection, half the clicks can be on "other links" which they have clicked on once they were sent to Amazon through your initial link.

Also bare in mind how many unique visitors you need per 1 sale, while my Amazon stats run at 5-6%, I need on average 200 visitors to my site for every sale.

You are right. The conversion rate that shows in Amazon is just for people sent to their site. Not everyone that goes to my sites click through to Amazon so in reality the conversion rate is lower if you measure it from the amount of visitors coming to your site vs the amount of visitors going to Amazon.

What this info tells us is that Amazon converts like crazy and our job is to get people there. Simple as that.

I'd be interested to know what the average click through rate is for you guys? I have 10 sites and it seems like the average click through rate between them all is around 50 - 60%. I think its pretty good but I could be wrong.

      Cheers

145 sites!! WOW. That must have taken over a year! I have one site that I am struggling just to get it onto the Google radar. I've done research for another site but I am quite a ways away from your level! I'd be happy with 10 sites that converted at those rates.

          Wow! It's that simple????

Apparently .info works as well as .com if yours converts at 18%? Did you do massive seo on it?

How many websites in that style do you have?

I have had varied level of success. During the rush time like Cyber Monday and Black Friday, the conversion rates goes above 20% or more.

During other times, it is between 5 to 10% depending on how targetted the traffic is.

Your conversion rate should be 3% minimal. If it's below that, you need to reassess your site and focus on your keywords as well as your blog layout. The answer lies in one of those two areas.
