I would also like to add... that it's a good idea to post your article in communities that are specific to your niche (such as forums, nings, etc.) - those sites rank really well with Google, because they're actually built for that type of information.

Also, don't really worry about the whole NoFollow thing too much, because you wanna post on both Follow & NoFollow sites.

    Hope this helped ya!

    All the best,

    ~Omar

Ezine is definitely the highest quality in my opinion. they are picky about a lot of things. Then you have others like goarticles who auto approve. There's definitely a quality difference there. I submit to ezine first, then 4 others by hand then the rest by ...

I've ever written a lot of articles and submitted to many article submission sites. However I have the most impressive with Ezinemark.com, because my articles are active very quickly as soon as I submit and it always holds the first top of searching. It makes me satisfied

This is the key question which people don't like thinking about and discussing, sometimes because they don't quite understand what article directories are.

The list above is actually a weird mixture of article directories and other sites which are not article directories at all, and have entirely different acceptance criteria and terms of service.

The page ranks shown are the page ranks of the sites' home pages, but those aren't where your articles are published! They go on PR-0 pages. (Yes, even in Ezine Articles).

Article directories with no-follow links can and do still help your off-page SEO.

In short, with apologies and absolutely no offense to anyone at all, this thread is absolutely full of misinformation. Sorry.

This is exactly the point Steven was commenting on above, Damon: how "effective" FOR WHAT?

For my purposes, and those of many professional article marketers here, Google's last update has been very helpful to us, and we welcome it, and are doing better now than we were before. There are about 30 threads here in which we're all saying so and explaining why.

It depends how you're using article directories, what you're trying to get from them, and so on.

To discuss "which are best" in isolation, without defining that, is just meaningless. In fact, it's worse than just "meaningless": it's actually misleading.

            Hi there,

First I prefer submitting my articles on ezinearticles.com or hubpages.com, but later i am keen on squidoo n helium. Indeed, squidoo's scoring system interest me while helium contests and debate topics keep me there. However, the submitting as well as reviewing procedure takes me a lot of time. Ezinemark.com deals with this well.

So, I suggest u post ur articles on
            1. ezinearticles
            2. hubpages
            3. squidoo
            4. helium
            5. ezinemark

You are absolutely correct! Effective is subjective. The update was to week out the irrelevant and "keyword stuffed just for ranking" content. If you have quality content you should not have been affected in a major way. I can totally see how it was helpful to those that produce valuable content. None of the content I posted was really affected and my rankings have improved as well. I am not a hardcore article marketer however am getting more involved as I build out a new niche!

Write quality articles and provide valuable information that readers can use and want to share and you "shouldn't" be affected. Those that try to game the system eventually get gamed!

If you're looking for a site that can really help your work get syndicated, try AmericanChronicle.com. It's not a traditional "article directory" - more of an online newspaper/magazine. However, American Chronicle owns a variety of different online mags. If they like what you publish, they will syndicate it on their other websites.

If they have a category that relates to your niche, I would definitely suggest you check it out. But before you do - be aware that this is a higher caliber site than the typical article directories. Your stuff will have to be approved (which usually takes a couple of days, if not sooner), and you won't see the typical garbage that's clogging up other sites.

I don't submit to many directories these days (anywhere from 3 to 8 on any given day), because it's not necessary for my specific strategy. While I still submit to EZA, I've found a directory that gives me far superior CTRs because there aren't 40 advertisements taking away from my content:

Top-Quality, Professional Information From Industry Experts

This next directory is one I've been using for a long time and it's part of my longer-term content-marketing strategy:

IdeaMarketers - free content directory They're no EZA, but their no slouch either. Definitely should be part of most article marketer's to-submit list.

I use paid services that help my article get more distribution and the ability to get more baclinks back to my website such as (no affiliate links):

Link building service | #1 SEO Service | Build one way links | High quality one way link building

Promote My Articles Article Marketing Service

These are just a few that I use. When used consistently with my over all content strategy using the written word (think articles and press releases), audio recordings (think podcasts), and video marketing, you can generate tons of traffic in 60 to 90 days. You just have to be willing to work your a** off.

If you want your own SEO team, I cannot recommend http://trafficsage.com/ (owned by two Warriors whom I respect) enough. Once you're own efforts start generating revenue, this is not a bad way to go.
