List Building question...

Hey guys,

Even though I'm good at writing email autoresponder series I'm just getting started with my own mailing list to market to.

I have been having people register to my blog as a subscriber. Can I add these people to my mailing list since they did subscribe to my blog?

This may sound like a stupid question for most, but I'm not sure if registering to make commit on my blog is the same as being able to add them to my mailing list, because they did not sign up through my mailing list offer.

Thanks for your help.

Malisia

Subscribing to your blog should be integrated with your mailing list if it's not you should fix it. I would ask them to subscribe to your mailing list first.

Don't have the time to write emails that will get opened, read and your reader to take action then leave me a message. I will get back to you within 48 hrs.

I don't think you are allowed to send them auto responder emails unless they asked for them. I highly recommend you link your blog & auto responder email service.

Hit the nail on the head, they have to give you permission to do that. So what I would do is when they registrar for your blog, send them an oto to also sign up for your newsletter. Also make sure it is double opt-in, to keep all bases covered.

If you don't get their permission first, you will be getting a ton of spam complaints and your emails will never get delivered.

Sure you can do that, just add some text in your message that said why they are receiving that information, and the way to unsubscribe.

You should always start with free stuff, and great information before trying to sell something.

Hey, there are plugins that will do this for you automatically and 'legally'.

I have Aweber and use the "Aweber super simple" plugin. Whenever someone registers for my blog it has a small check box that says "receive newsletter also" and it will automatically add them to my list

Just do a plugin search if you have someone other than aweber and you are sure to find a plugin that will work for you.

    Good Luck

Hi Malisia, good luck with what you're doing!

It's easy to integrate aWeber into your blog. But if you are collecting names on your own there, I doubt very much--I'm almost certain aWeber won't let you import them into any already existing list you have with them.

There is no "audit trail" for them to verify that your people have actually willingly subscribed to anything and they want a double opt-in process to protect both you and them anyway.

I only say this because I wouldn't want you to collect thousands of names (hopefully) and then not be able to market to the effectively and safely.

But, like I said--good luck. Make a million! --Mike
