How not to do product reviews

I don't make reviews sites but I do search for them when I'm buying something.

Last night I saw an infomercial that looked pretty interesting but I held off buying until I could read some reviews. Amazon is usually the first place I go for reviews, but since it didn't seem to have many on this product, I searched for more. What did I find? Dozens and dozens of so called "reviews "from affiliates that were just pitches or that consisted of the company's affiliate pitch. A few consisted of articles written by people who couldn't have been native English speakers. I'll bet 90% of them make very few sales. I've run into the same thing when searching for reviews for info products.

For this product, I finally found someone who took a little more time to create something that that at least resembled a review. Even though it could have been done much, much better it still stood out because it was closer to a review than any of the rest. I would be much more likely to buy from her site, since she addressed some of the same concerns I had and at least she took the time to make a video.

If you are going to do reviews for a physical or info product, don't be lazy. Why not spend a little time doing real reviews, not the same rehashed garbage as all the other affiliates? It's ok to say something negative too. No product is pefect.

IMHO you would probably make more money by doing fewer real reviews then tons of garbage ones.

Can someone explain how this works? Doesn't seem real legit.

So if someone clicks on that link and it keeps redirecting around like that, does this person get paid by all those sites?

There are FTC rules that state how you need to disclose you are an affiliate and will be compensated if someone buys from clicking on a link on their site. Few sites have these disclaimers, though.

Ok, it goes to the review now, but the first time I clicked on the link it redirected about 3 or 4 times and finally came to some directory.

Sheesh sorry to waste your time.

I posted this because many people are spending a lot of time doing reviews that aren't really reviews, their pitches or just copys of the same websitesites that other affiliates are using.

Thats the wrong way to do it.
