Whoops! What a blunder!

I just discovered that my product download page can be found in a search (not easily, but still...) because I missed putting "noindex, nofollow" tags on it!

If I put the tags in retroactively will this page get "de-indexed" the next time my site is spidered? Or would I be better off to change the page url also?

I'm a bit confused about this because I see lots of old test pages and other rubbish still indexed long after I deleted them or added "noindex" tags.

On a similar matter, I discovered that my pdf user manual and some mp3 files I sell are indexed. How do I keep these from getting indexed?

Thanks for any suggestions!

I would recommend you to use DLGuard or E-Junkie to protect your downloads and with E-Junkie, you can accept payments at the same time as well.

If you are not ready to use these services, apart from the noindexing, you can always change your directory names to random alphabet strings once every week.

One thing for you to remember though, you shouldn't be worrying much about this as serious and real customers won't snoop on how they can get your products for free.
