Niche Domain Names to sell-what should I do?

14 replies
Hi Everyone,
I have 6 niche domain names to sell, the domain names are the keywords as dot coms and orgs and they are all listed on page one of a google search for the keyword.
I have some articles and Amazon and clickbank products on them, but have not made any sales; so I am thinking why not, and where is the best place to advertise to sell the domains?

Thanks in advance for any tips to make money with them, or where to sell the domains.

Have a great day.

Paul

      PM me a list and I'll give you some honest feedback mate. Personally I'd sell them and rinse and repeat!

    How about the website for sale section here on Warrior forum? I believe you can have multiple sites listed for sale on the one listing, most site selling sites don't allow that.

    Sedo is a nice place to sell them or make use of the Warrior forum site sale section.

      GoDaddy has a bit of an auction system specifically for domains. Just a sidenote, your domains must be more than 60 days old before you can sell them anywhere (according to some international regulations to prevent domain speculations)...

        And you got this info where? I've sold many domains that were less than 60 days old and domain speculation is a widespread business model.

        You can sell on Godaddy, Afternic, Sedo, WF Complete Sites for Sale, Namepros, Flippa

          You did? That's interesting, because:

          Go Daddy Domain Buy Service Agreement
          In all transactions, where the domain name is registered to Go Daddy, domain names purchased through the Services may not be transferred away from Go Daddy to another registrar for a period of sixty (60) days following the Change of Ownership date.

          Go Daddy Domain Name Change Of Registrant Agreement
          The domain name may not be transferred to another registrar within sixty (60) days of the completion of the change of Registrant transaction (the "Transfer Prohibition Period").

          In the event the domain name is subject to another change of Registrant within the Transfer Prohibition Period, the 60-day Transfer Prohibition Period will begin again upon completion of the subsequent change of Registrant transaction.

          Go Daddy Domain Name Registration Agreement

          You agree that You will not transfer any domain name registered through Go Daddy to another domain name registrar during the first sixty (60) days after its initial registration date.

          I lost the exact link, but it's in there somewhere too:
          Go Daddy may elect to accept or reject Your domain name transfer application for any reason at its sole discretion. Rejections may include, but are not limited to:
          • The original registration took place less than sixty (60) days prior to the transfer request;
          • The domain was transferred to Go Daddy less than sixty (60) days prior to the transfer request;
          • The Domain Name Registrant was changed less than sixty (60) days prior to the transfer request;
          ICANN Policy on Transfer of Registrations between Registrars
          The Registrar of Record may deny a transfer request only in the following specific instances:
          • A domain name is in the first 60 days of an initial registration period.
          • A domain name is within 60 days (or a lesser period to be determined) after being transferred (apart from being transferred back to the original Registrar in cases where both Registrars so agree and/or where a decision in the dispute resolution process so directs).

          Instances when the requested change of Registrar may not be denied include, but are not limited to:
          • Domain name registration period time constraints, other than during the first 60 days of initial registration or during the first 60 days after a registrar transfer.

          Granted, I'm happy to speak general English and I tend to get easily confused when it comes to law terms, but the examples above gave me the impression that it could prove tricky to sell domains in the 60 day period when I buy them / register them...

          It may not be a problem to sell a Go Daddy domain to someone who also uses Go Daddy as a registrar, but how the hell am I (or the bidder) supposed to know which registrar we use?

          Opinions are much appreciated.

            You are mistaking a TOS that keeps domains bought in Godaddy IN Godaddy. It says nothing about selling a domain. You can, in fact, buy a domain and sell it 1 minute later and then simply Push the domain to another Godaddy user. Godaddy does not want you to transfer domains OUT of Godaddy, so they and most registrars make this rule.

            It is not a law, an international law or anything close. It's nothing more than a TOS registrars use to keep domains in their registrars.

            If you sell a brand new domain to someone who does not have an account at the registrar where you bought it, you simply get them to sign up for a free account at that registrar and push the domain to them. At the end of 60 days they can transfer it anywhere they want to.

              Hi Everyone,
              Thanks so much for the advice.
              I just realized the google rankings may be for Canada.

              Anyway, I was wondering:
              what a niche website would be worth and what attributes make it valuable?
              Do I sell the domain name and the site as it is, or just the domain name?
              What information about the sites do I post on the website for sale site?
              If I sell a domain do I do that through the domain registrar?
              Is there anything else I should know about, or a domain selling PDF somewhere?

                If you were to buy a site, what information's you would want to know before you spend money? That same information's should be given when selling a site/domain.

                If you are selling a site then you should sell it based on "profit+traffic+potential+work involved" the potential last part is a bit "tricky" but people do buy that as well.

                Also how are you monetizing the site? Can you drop me a PM with the list of the sites (i might be the first buyer )

            It isn't tricky at all, Vogin.

            I've sold many domain names which I'd registered at GoDaddy, not long after registering them. The buyer either has, or opens (no cost involved) a GoDaddy account. End of "problem".
