HELP: How Do You Dominate Local Business Results In Google?

Like when you search for local a local business service and you get a map listing, accompanied by a listing of A-J on the right side. My regular listings don't seem to be making it into those.

This is never something I've had an issue with before, so I'm assuming there is a small oversight on my part somewhere.

Thanks for any help or tips....really appreciate it!

    1) list your business on maps.google.com
    http://www.google.com/local/add/busi...gl=us&hl=en-US

    2) list your business on local.yahoo.com

    3) ensure your location target is in your title tag on your website, use it in an <h1> tag
near the top of your site...have a few (don't over do it, it's not necessary) mentions
of it in the body/text of your site.

    4) Drop a few backlinks from other sites to your site with the anchor text you're targeting
    eg; <a href="http://yoursite.com">your location focus business name</a>

Don't forget to mix in a little web 2.0 property fun too.
eg; youtube, aol vid, squidoo, and a few articles

Also a nice 19 dollar webwire press release can help get you some traction.

and of course the almighty socialbookmarking...nail it a few times on those as well:
socialmarker.com is a great freebie tool to assist with that process.

    Enjoy

PS: BIG WOOPS -- just re-read your post. Ok for google maps listings ensure your keyword phrase is used as the business name, I know it's may be counter-intuitive but
you have to be a keyword wh*re there to get it ranking. Also, ensure you use the keyword phrase again somewhere in the description....then get a few reviews
to provide a little activity on it. This has helped with some of my clients to bump up
    that listing a bit.

you can target specific areas (and mark areas where you wish to avoid) quite easily by producing a customised polygon or some similar shape on the map - quite easy really - just read through the instructions under the 'custom' tab in the EDIT Areas section.
