I have done more niche research and have now found a niche with good searches, reasonable competition and good CPC.

My point here - don't just keep going with a niche just because you've already bought the domain and started working on it. If you realize that it isn't going to be profitable then move on!

Before you throw away all that work, have you looked to see if there is any other way to monetize the site/niche? You could sell something off clickbank or amazon, or even possibly throw on CPA ads on the site.

If the keyword is relative easy to rank for, it could still make money from other methods.

One of the niche's i'm in, has 5c cpc (on adwords!), however i sell a digital guide on the website and make $25+ a sale,and get 2-3 sales minimum a month. it's one of my most profitable websites =)

I will have a look, but the problem is that I specifically chose that niche for Adsense and I really don't know that there would be an affiliate product - but never say never - you never know what might be out there.

If you feel you'll get some decent traffic, you could always create a product..

  Good idea but I don't think I know enough in this niche to write on it. I did find a nice affiliate product though so it's just trying to find the time now to work on it.

  I have once missed to exact search on proceeded for buying. But I have one good quality, I check even before paying for domain. That time I realized it was not exact search.
  
  I bought a domain which never had a company name, but some general words. It had highest CPC. Only one pay for that KW. I never checked and continued. Its an established website, and no meaning in beating them.
  
  1st domain bought for Amazon business had amazon written in it. It seems funny now.
  
  mistakes never ends.......
  
  Your decision is right to start from scratch.
  I have a better deal, sell all the sites which are not productive even after making 1st spot.

I wouldn't give up on it so quickly. Even if the CPC isn't that great, you already paid for the domain name and installed WP and all the plugins. If you think the site will be easy to rank for, why not just outsource a few articles, throw them on the site, then outsource a little backlinking or do a little SEO yourself to get it ranking?

As long as you're getting Adsense clicks, the site has some sort of value. I'm sure you would be able to quickly make back the money you spent on the domain name and any articles you outsourced. At that point, you can flip the site for a nice profit or even hold onto it if it performs better than you expected.

All in all, it would only take you a few hours of work. If the site was only making a mere $1 per day, you could flip it for $300 or more probably and move onto another site.

I did a couple of these 'brainers' too. The darn things did well ranking so I ended up turning them into Adsense and get clicks and a few sales from them now. Salvaged learning experience.

Definitely! As you've come this far, you might as complete the website and see what happens from there, depending on the competition in the niche, if you are able to rank pretty, well easily, then it might be worth simply ranking the website and trying to promote affiliate products, but don't forget, you may be able to find some CPA offers, depending on the volume of the traffic we're talking about it here, probably won't be any use to you, but for others reading, if you really wanted to, well use the domain, create a opt-in for something (Related of course), then use this to generate leads for related niche products, I mean it's not as effective as promoting something in the same niche, but with opt-in lists, you can easily promote different products every month, so you'll probably find a certain sub-niche of products which your list seems to buy more then others etc.

I've got a few sites myself that I've done that with, but I went ahead and created it as an adsense site, and every now and then they actually have good days, so it isn't a total waste, and who knows one day you may find a good use for that site, even if you do very little with it for now.

I have the site uploaded with Wordpress, theme and plugin all installed so I might try and find time to work on it at some stage. Even if I set it up with a heap of plr content would be better than nothing and see how it goes.

Its just finding the time!!!

Hi Sheryl, thanks for sharing your concerns here - its generating some really good ideas from others!

I hear you when you say "its just finding the time to do all of this". I'm in the process of dumping most of my sites because its pointless keeping them going when there are far more profitable things to be getting on with. The time factor is huge, even if you are outsourcing some (or much) of your workload.

There is no point flogging a dead horse - as is the saying. But on the other hand, some really good ideas being shared here that could prove to become very nicely profitable!
