I have the revolution city theme and am trying to change those damn R thumb nails on the home page but its not working.

I tried via ftp... put images in the wp-content/uploads folder and then went into the advanced are in the edit section of wp under custom fields..
That didnt' work..

I also tried just to use the add image right in wp editor but that only includes into an acutal page.

Can someone help me before I break my computer... lol.. sorry just frustrated..

www.airtraveldestinations.com you can see the R's on the homepage.

Not sure if you've tried it, but I usually go to the Revolution forum and drive them nuts with my questions. Pretty good turn around in answer too!

      Hope that helps

    Hi Kim,

I think the easiest thing to do would be this.

    1. Create the new thumbnail photo. Make sure it is 70x70. Name it thumbnail.jpg

    2. Login to your site using FTP

    3. Go to this directory:

    blog/wp-content/themes/revolution_city-10/images/

    4. Upload your new thumbnail.jpg and make sure that it overwrites the one that is there

I'm assuming that you want the same image in place of all those R thumbnails that are already there.

The above procedure is the easiest without having to dig into the theme code.

    Good luck!

Kim want separate images for each post - not a default image.

The way to change the thumbnails is simply to go into the relevant post (manage post) then there is a section for "Custom Fields" - use "thumbnail" and the corresponding url to your thumbnail image - it doesn't have to be anywhere in particular on your site - as long as the image exists somewhere!

That way you can have individual images (thumbnails) for each post.

    Hope that helps!

Looks like Jo gave you the best answer. I think I misunderstood how the theme works. I would go with that suggestion and look under the Custom Fields to provide the thumbnail for each post.

That said, what I suggested above would probably change what the default thumbnail is for those posts where you don't specify one.

I was told at the revolution forum to add the images in the wp-content/uploads folders.

Should I be adding the images and then naming them thumb1, thumb 2 ect.. I do want a different pic for each R on the homepage..

      Thanks,
      Kim

    Hi Kim

Yes, to keep things "tidy" then you should probably have them all in one folder. Where that is, doesn't really matter, as long as you are able to find it yourself!! The wp-content/uploads folder is as good a place as any.

    All the best

I don't think you have the correct url - try copying the url you have into your browser and - - do you see the image correctly?? If not you need to check the url exactly. It is very difficult to tell from those screenshots.

    Kim,

Maybe you can copy and paste the URL for the image into this thread and that will give us an idea of what might be going wrong.

LOL.. that is exactly what i was going to do..

Here is the url for one of the pics I want on the home page to replace the R..
      http://www.airtraveldestinations.com...008/resort.jpg

I have literally gone to the custom field in wordpress and put this url in. I have put in the post Rome-the best of the best post.

Now what I dont' know is will I have to include this in all posts and pages for it to show up? That seems a bit much.. but don't know for sure..

    Kim

You only need it in Custom Fields - Thumbnail - for the Rome-the-best-of-best post. Copy and paste that url to the custom field and make sure you click update.

If you have any further problems - you can PM me, rather than filling this post any more.

    I will gladly help.
