What are the plugins for Wordpress that you would not want to go without?
#main internet marketing discussion forum #plugins #wordpress
  • Headspace 2
    phpbay
    wp polls
    next gen gallery
    google site map generator
    Cforms
    Caffeinated content

There are others but those are the ones I usually end up installing first because I use them constantly.
  • 1. Generator for a sitemap that gets displayed on a page.
    2. Generator for a sitemap file that gets fed to search engines, so it's not intended for human viewing (it generates an XML file in a format that was originally defined by Google, I think). This helps pagess get indexed a bunch faster than they otherwise might be (though other things that happen in Wordpress might achieve the same thing, but I like to know that I can feed Google with a list of my pages in a way that Google likes to see them).
    3. A page caching plugin (I haven't actually used one yet, but as soon as my traffic numbers start getting high, I'll put one in place immediately).
    4. All-in-One-SEO - allows me to do some nice SEO things, like explicitly providing a Meta description and Meta keywords for each page or post.
    5. A plugin that makes it easy to build a contact page that also provides security against spamming.
    6. So far I've only built used WP for sites where I don't accept comments, but when I eventually build ones that do, I'll want a plugin that can automate approval of comments as much as possible while still doing a good job of preventing SPAM comments.
    7. A PHP plugin (if you don't know what PHP is, it's the programming language that WP is written in). If you can program, the plugin allows you to use PHP code inside a page or post. Of course, if you can't program in PHP, there's no point in having this one.

    • Could you expand on why you hate zemanta? I just found this plugin today, and other than the fact that you need to delete the link references to zemanta's homepage, and the 'repost' links point to their homepage (which can also be deleted...)

Just curious, I don't know much about this plugin... just found some of it's functionality useful... like automatically coming up with keyword tags for you, as well as links to relevent topics...

What are your experiences with zemanta, and why do you hate it???

Here is a video on just why it is so good.

    YouTube - a must have Wp-Plugin
It saves me having lots of different plug ins plus that action will only happen on that posting and no others will be effected.
  • Dagon Design Sitemap Generator and DoFollow- I think these are pretty useful.
