Namecheap & hostgator question

I just purchased a domain at namecheap and set up the nameservers with my hostgator account, and installed wp. When I go to my site/wp-adim nothing shows up, it just says link broken.

Does it take some a few hours for things to be set up? Never had this problem with godaddy. With godaddy I could access my wp-admin right off the bat.

How long has it been since you set up the name servers? It has always been faster with Namecheap and Hostgator for me than it was with Godaddy, so exactly the opposite as your experience right now. Seems kind of strange.

Same here ... much faster for me this year with Namecheap and Hostgator than it was last year with GoDaddy. But then again, I've seen a couple of people asking this, this week, and they do seem to say "up to 48 hours" to cover themselves, so maybe it's just a bit slower than normal at the moment?

Well I set it up 4 hours ago and nothing yet still, so I'll just check again in 24 hours and see what happens.

Maybe it was still present in your dns cache (the old IP).. there are many factors, but my new sites are usually available for me after a few hours

That is good, because for it takes up to 24 hours approx for me. That is with go daddy of course. Have not noticed any faster with enom or name secure.

dns propagation is much more a problem with your ISP rather than domain registrar, perhaps you have visited the domain before the domain is changed to your hosting.

i had one time waited 2 days for the dns propagation....
