Autoblogging - newbie, a few questions

Hi All,

I decided to "restart" my adventure with IM and recently started reading a lot more on Warrior's forum again. What a great bunch, so much info and support!

Anyway, I decided to try autoblogging and more exactly semi-autoblogging. I don't believe that set and forget will work and give my visitors the experience and information they will be looking for.

Anyway, I've set up 2 blogs so far. I get the content but then I check it myself before posting to make sure it looks and reads ok. Now, that I have my design and content somewhat under control I wanted to take the next steps. I see that Google indexed both my domains so that's good too even though it's been a week so far.

So what now? I guess I have to start link building, correct? However, before I start doing it, I was wondering what your thoughts are on duplicate content. Even if I do link building and all that, isn't Google just going to punish me for that and not rank me high in the results? If that's the case then what is the point in link building to begin with?

My niche is moderately competitive so can you guys roughly tell me how many links I would have to build and for how long? (Assuming those are good links)

Anyway, also if you can, please check out one of my sites and let me know what you think of the design and layout.

Thanks for your input.

the idea of the site is good, but what is this huge header all about?
when your visitor gets to the site all he/she sees above the fold is this huge blank space...

the site could be monetized better , did you build it just for adsense? where is your affiliate offer?
you should also put up an opt in form for getting subscribers on your list...

Thanks for the advice. I already made the changes to the header, is that better? I also added the opt-in form to my site. I guess the next thing is to find the affiliate offer. Any suggestions where to look for it? I don't think click bank is the answer here but I'm not sure what the alternatives might be to this particular niche...

google is not penelizing for the double content, but it will be much easier to push your site in google if your content is original. In both cased backlinking is mandatory. You have to build as many as possible.

SGdarling is right...dont worry about the duplicate content issue at all. I have a lot of sites with what most people consider "duplicate" content and they do just fine. The "duplicate content" you need to worry about is having the same content on the same site.

As far as your link building is concnerned you also need to try to target related sites for your links, yes sheer numbers are good but if you can get them from related sites it will be better in the long run.

Your "semi-auto blogging" idea (IMO) is dead on! I know some people have done well with completely auto content but I found for me that I prefer to ensure the content on my sites is reviewed for accuracy and relavancy. Most people have problems with auto blogging because they buy a few fancy plugins and just set them up and walk away...plugins are great, dont get me wrong but none (that I know of) have a great track record of posting good quality, always related content.

Good luck with IM and "semi" auto blogging!

It DOES! When you post the same content to the same domain twice. And it does it very quickly and forever!

This is true but more important is the fact that most people confuse or misunderstand the myth of "duplicate content".

You will only have an issue if the same content is on a particular site more than once. You can use content from other legal sources and republish it on your site without penalty (just be sure to give the original author credit). This is where people typically get confused.

    Web-site is nice looking.
Opt-in form: less fields to fill = more opt-ins.

How many links you would have to build would depend on the competition. Go to Google and type in your main keyword and check the top 3 sites for that keyword to see how many inbound links they have.

That will give you a good idea where to start...

How to check inbound links? Use Yahoo Site Explorer for example.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I guess my next step is to locate forums that discuss the subject that my site is about and sign up for those and start commenting and answering questions. When you guys do that, do you use your real name, IM name or a fake name? Also, how long do you wait until you start commenting so it does not look like you are just trying to get backlinks?

    Thanks!

    PS
Thanks ExlMax for liking my site!
