My website must be on one or more backlink builder list, I am getting hundreds of non-specific comments. Is it better to delete these or keep them? Thanks...

Definitely delete - by deleting them you increase the amount of link juice the page can give out - allowing you to link one of your other sites and gaining good juice.

    Tasty tasty juice.

Or as I do for spam messages, edit the comment, remove the links or put links in for your other sites. That way Google see's you as getting lots of comments and the spammers are actually doing you a favour.

Yes, do that! Oh, and don't forget to visit their sites for more niche ideas

Actually it was dogscout that gave me the idea. So the spammer called buyviagra with a link to his site becomes "a normal name" linking to either one of my web properties or no where at all to make it seem natural.

I don't do it for each, one just a few a day.

            Eye for an eye!

 Most of the spam is machine generated crap anyway. How does deleting them keep spammers away? How about reporting them as spam? Deleting a message from some great big spam farm doesn't just persuade them to stop doing what they're doing.

In addition to above editing comments, how about applying Spam filters like Akismet? I think this would be the best tool if you have got the option to use it.
    What say friends?

I have quiet a few of these spammy comments on one of my sites also. I have mine set to approve any comment before its goes live on my site. I was wondering if I could edit & de-spam it (LOL) then approve it so I could have more comments.
