Strange Response From Aweber...Is this legit?

Yesterday, I switched over an autoresponder account from iContact to Aweber.

About 2 hours ago, I went through the process of importing some leads. (Which was a real pain...why do all these companies make this part so hard? I wish somebody would just take a statement regarding the legitimacy of the list and just let you do an import...anyway)

Strangely, I just got an email that said they tried to call my phone, and because I didn't pick up the phone, I had until 5:00 pm Tuesday to change my phone number on account or they would suspend my account!

Oddly enough...I tried to contact them through their Live Chat Feature...which says "Live Chat - Online"...and they are not online.

Is this legit?

Anybody had this issue before?

I can share with you my experience ..

I signed up to AWeber about 5 days ago. The day after I signed up, I missed a call on my cellphone (the number I provided during sign-up) and the caller left a voicemail. I checked the voicemail and it was from AWeber, with a message of "Hi this is AWeber .. blah blah, just wanted to let you know we are real human beings behind these telephone lines, do not hesitate to call us.." etc.

Their policy may be to verify every client's phone number. It may be a requisite to be able to send out mailing, in order to be in compliance with the email-laws.

I've been with them for years and its their integrity as a spam free genuine company that keeps me with them. Never had a problem and suggest you do what they want or they will cast you adrift for the sake of their reputation.

    God bless

They tend to telephone all new customers to welcome them to the Aweber service, which I think is very good for customer relations. In view of your experience however, there seems to be another purpose of the phone call - to verify that one has given them a legitimate phone number!

As already suggested, I should try to contact them again and clear up the misunderstanding. From my experience, they are a very good company providing a very effective service.

      Regards,
      Jeff Henshaw.

I got the same message after they could not get ahold of me. I was told to contact them and update my account info or my account would be suspended. Once I called them and straightened that stuff out i have had no problems with their service!

Well, I followed up with a phone call after not being able to reach them through their chat support feature.

I must say, they were very kind and professional over the phone.

However, it struck me as odd when I mentioned that I couldn't log in for some time yesterday because their site was down...and when I tried to import leads in today, I ran into this issue and problem, that the CS agent didn't offer much comfort.

I guess everybody has a bad day!

    Moving on...

It's back to iContact for now. Aweber was very kind to issue a refund which they certainly didn't have to do.

Moral of the story: Don't miss that first phone call!

That may go down as the shortest relationship with a service company online...1 whopping day.

    Thanks for your advice,
    Jack
