strategies to promote a web store?

Hi,

I just built a niche web store, and was weighting the usual traffic strategies to start promoting. The store has a community attached that is moving nicely, so I already have some customers .

Does anyone has personal experience in stores? which of the traffic strategies work best?

for local clients I am using a lot of video, but for this case I have no stats.

the community has web 2.0 promotion on place, and the twitter followers are growing nicely (with real people).

I am writing a book, centering in the niche+one of the categories.

But that is all I have done so far specifically for the store.

Any help is very welcome

Sandra

The first thing that you should do is make sure that all of your products are indexed in Google Shopping. Most shopping cart software makes this easy to do by automatically providing you with the xml files needed to submit to GS.

I think it's important to promote your website of store. More people visit your site, more people can meet your products. There are many things you can do to promote your site, for example link building and article marketing.

If you're in the gift market, you can check out Giftys.com. It doesn't cost anything to join and the cpc is only .18 cents. There's a link in my signature if you want to click through. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Add Your Store to Giftys.

Yes, getting it indexed is one of the first things to do. Then, you may also want to get your store listed down on online store directories for better ranking.

Sandra, if you are looking for out of the box ways to promote your web store you could try promoting the community section of the site through stumbleupon paid ads. For $25 you can get quick read on whether people are digging your content and if so, it could translate into a lot of free traffic.

Just one idea out of thousands

You can use ebay ads, it may get you some targeted traffic.

Also try CraigsList and other classified ad networks targeted to sell things.
