That really almost seems too cheap. I would be nervous about poor quality.

I'm not sure how much that price would work, cause honestly there are writers that can write amazing, original articles for as low as $4. It's just a highly competitive market out there when it comes to content creation.

But if you've got the contacts to get the clients, the price may very well work.

$6 is cheap, but it would help in the early days to build volume before increasing prices.

Hi Antony! I believe there is always a market that will pay for rewritten content of the quality you mentioned at your prices. There is also a market who will pay for decent quality at lower prices and a market that will pay for rewritten content of excellent quality at even higher prices. Sadly, there is even a market expecting fantastic rewritten content quality for pennies.

My opinion about this is: Go with the market that best suits your colleagues and business.

I think as long as you know where to market, you can definitely find business for those rates. A lot of people will be willing to pay more than that for quality, so if you've got a good team of writers behind you then I'm sure that your price will be seen as competitive.

Thanks for the positive responses everyone. I have refrained from offering it as a service as there really needs to be enough of a margin so that my writers can make a living and there is profit to make it worth while. I do realise that there is a market for it though.

Rich, I always use American writers (due to the slightly favorable exchange rate) who are willing to work with my rates but my relationship with them is long term which ensures good results all round. However, when it does come to recruiting new writers, my selection process is brutal.

As for original content, I always work to provide the cheapest articles at a quality that rival the $15-$25 articles - the trick is in convincing clients to try them out. Im not new at producing content, but the market is always twisting and turning so its nice to get feedback from all of you.

$6 isn't too much, it's very reasonable. I charge $5 to rewrite my own PLR or $7.50 for any other rewrites. It can be difficult when competing with writers that will write for $3 or $4 per 500 words, but if people want quality then they will pay it. Once you have existing customers there is a good chance that they will keep coming back if your quality is good.

If you are paying writers for these, plus want to make some profit yourself, then you really don't want to go any lower than $6.

If you already have the contacts, pricing isn't generally a concern. $6 for 500 words is not excessive, in fact, I would offer a higher base price, and then discount down to $6-7 per for bulk orders.

Sheryl, thats exactly it. $6 would be my most competitive price but I am reluctant to go much higher since as mentioned my original articles go for $10.50. I can take it for a test run at least and see if I should up the rate or drop the service all together.

Bane, thats always a good strategy so thanks for bringing it up. At the moment I will keep it at a base rate of $6 but the minumum order is 25 articles. I could turn around these in 1-3 days - less depending on the level of original work we have.

Darla, you had me thinking that there really needs to be a new market place (such as freelancers, elance, odesk) or a network of writing services that cater to the middle to high end of the market. At least in this regard there could be strict rules in place regarding minumum rates and turn around times. Perhaps a new venture - anyone?

$6 to a college student sounds better than $6 for a professional. So no, I don't think it's excessive. The opposite is true, in fact.

I am sure you can get someone to do it for US$2 as well if you want to!

I pay $14USD for 700 word articles and they are absolutely outstanding. I dont flinch at paying more for good quality work.
